SRD Reproduction Crossmember and Tie Bar

Post by Nd4SpdSe »

First thing I should mention that this isn't a group buy, so there's no requirement on how many people are interested. This are fabricated on a request basis, and because of their extensive shapes that require several seperate passes, even manual work in fabricating these parts, there no real way to make it more economical to order them batches.

You can see the GI thread, it's here:
http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=65849" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Parts

SRD Reproduction Crossmember - V6 Mx-3 Only
SRD Front Crossmember:
-"V6 owners: upgrade your 4.5lbs OEM Stamped steel Crossmember with a stronger, stiffer and 1.5lbs lighter Aluminium billet unit. This crossmember installs in minutes with basic tools. Helps to maintain the front suspension's geometry under hard cornering, provides faster steering response and significatly stiffens the chassis. CNC-machined from 6061T6 Aluminium, comes unpolished

Function: the crossmember (sometimes called transverse member) joins the two chassis pickup points of the front suspension's control arms. Under heavy cornering, tremendous forces are applied to the chassis and without proper bracing will flex and generate poor steering response. V6 MX-3s are fitted with a "C" shaped stamped steel crossmember economical to mass produce. OEM brace provides a relatively high degree of bracing but because of the "C" shape some deformation is allowed. Furthermore, torsional resistance is quite poor: you can actually twist the part with your hands. Here comes the SRD crossmember: 150% stronger longitudinally and 275% stiffer torsionnally. As a bonus part is 1.5lbs lighter. Don't let your car twist in the twisties!"

SRD Reproduction Rear Tie Bar - 4Cyl and V6 (Mx-3/323/Protege)
SRD Rear Tie Bar:
"V6 owners: upgrade your OEM rear lower tiebar with this work of art!

4 cylinder owners: your car is missing an important part especially if you have aftermarket wheels and/or lowered suspension! This tie bar installs in minute with basic tools and helps to maintain the rear suspension's geometry under hard cornering.

Hardware

Each part comes by itself. Installation is simple and uses the stock hardware.

For the crossmember, it should be noted that an impact gun really should be used. It's not necessary, but because there are literally nuts welded inside the frame, the welds can get weak from time and exposure to the elements and winter sand/salt, or the bolt is just seize from time. Regardless, the nut may come lose, which would make taking the bolt out pretty much impossible, and fixing the issue requires cutting a hole and rewelding the nut. This could be the case with even the hardware on the rear tie bar. It would be good practice to even spray those points with PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench or similar.

- 1 Personal Contact Phone Number (used on the shipping form)
- Parts requested

International shipping available, and items will be insured for each their value, in case of loss or damage during shipping and tracking numbers will be used regardless. Duties may apply. The cheapest shipping method will be used, unless a company or a more speedy delivery is requested. To mention, the cheapest shipping of the prototypes was through Canada Post/USPS, and was advertised as 7-11 business days, but expect longer in case of delays at the border.

As a note, I make no profit from them, nor do I recuperate the cost of not only paying 2x their worth to get the last set we've pretty much seen for sale in the last 2 years, as well as making a significant detour to New Jersey to pick them up. Making these parts available is my personal contribution to Mx-3'ers and Mx-3.com

Turn Around

Parts from start to finish typically takes between 1-2 weeks, being fabricated in between other jobs. They could possibly take longer, but there is also some that can and have been made as stock. PM me if you want to see if there are any available before purchasing.

More Details

The guy making the parts, Jimmie, also known as BlaznLow, is a friend of mine for the last few years. We're both part of the Explicit Contentz car club, as well as the former Team SlipStream. Colin is also friends with Jimmie, as well as part of the same club. If anyone has any doubts or any problems, I know where he lives :lol:

Although these parts are made to order, and can technically be made at anytime in the future, there is no guarantee on how long they can be produced for, pending the availability to the equipment and even the permission by the shop's owner. If that's does become the case, I would honestly look elsewhere to keep having them manufacturered, if posssible, but this is just being mentioned in case of a worse case scenario. Complete refunds will be given to those who have paid for parts that can't be manufactured.

Just a final disclaimer, that these parts are manufactured as-is and are for off-road use only. Because of the nature of the parts, there are no guarentees. Crossmember may create clearance issues and bottom out.

Just a few notes:

1) When PM'ing me from within this topic, PLEASE clear the PM and write what you want to write from there. It's not fun to have the entire thread quoted, and having to sift through it to find the single line that you typed....

2) If you want to find out what it would cost for non-Canadians, Xe.com is a very useful site for currency conversions:
- http://www.xe.com/ucc/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It should be noted, if you're not aware, that whatever financial institution will take a cut in the conversion, so it won't accurately represent what it will cost in the end.

3) Regardless of where you are from, it should be no problem to send the funds in Canadian dollars. Paypal does currency conversion, and even sending out money orders, I've personally done Canadian Money Orders in US Funds, so I really don't see why other countries can't do the same thing. I know from my experience, I've had people given a hard time cashing mine in, where the banks would claim that they were in Canadian funds and not US, but I know better, it says right on it. If there are problems or concerns, please let me know.

Because of the volatility of the markets, it wouldn't be a good idea for me to do the conversion on my end, receiving non-CDN funds. Althought I could gain, I could also lose out of my pocket as well, this not a good idea and not worth the risk.
