Basically, everytime I am finished driving the car, I hear a steady sound of liquid pinging against something metal. Rate is pretty steady at about one "ping" every five or six seconds. However, there is no evidence of a fluid leak.
I cannot isolate here the sound is coming from either; I only know it is in the front area...
Keep in mind, it is winter here, but I doubt that snow/ice just happens to get into the same spot and metls at the same rate no matter what...

Re: Random fluid leak? Or not!
have you checked all your fluids to see if they are topped up?
NEED PARTS INSTALLED? PM ME!

Indeed, hence the lack of evidence. The only thing I cannot check is gasoline level, but I doubt it is that, becuase consumption has been normal and there is no gas smell...projectzemx3 wrote:have you checked all your fluids to see if they are topped up?

Re: Random fluid leak? Or not!
Every car I know of has done that. Its a cooling sound. Could be a repetative air lock being relased as gasses cool, or two parts slowly slipping as they cool, and the friction changes based on temperature... Could be anything really. Don't worry about it, if you listen carefully, your car will also crackle a bit on cold days when you plug in the block heater.
This guys figures its ehxaust. I think its a BMW forum, so cars MUST be meant to do that

I agree, and add that different metals/ thicknesses cool at different rates, so you may hear your Aluminum head slipping against the steel exhaust manifold, as it cools, and shrinks faster, for example. I had a V8 with a block that was steel with Aluminum heads, and it made alot of that pinging as it cooled.
