Heavy breathing MX-3 (serious Ram air)

Post by fowljesse »

I finally got around to hooking it all up. It's working, and about 99% complete. I just need to hermetically seal it.

Image

I cut out the turn signal hole, since the signals are in the headlights. I cut it a little bigger, too.

Image

I am using Aluminum tape to bridge the gaps, and seal the parts together. Don't worry. It'll look good when I'm done.
With the headers wrapped, and the TB coolant bypassed, and this hooked up, the coolant temp sensor on the MegaSquirt reads cool 8)

Guys from inner city Detroit look at that car and are like "Damn man...that's ghetto!!!"

Your car cracks me up Jesse. I totally love it. I would never EVER do any of that...but I totally love it.

 I know. Ghetttto! I crack myself up sometimes.
I had a black Mercedes that I polished 2x/ week, and a rare showcar, etc..
I keep the stock one nice.
This one's for fun. Wait till you see tomorrow's pics!
I love beating people in this thing.
In every scene, there's the guy with the vehicle like this that emberasses guys that spent 5X the money :D
If I spent $500 to have an intake custom built, they couldn't do a more effective job.
Again, I promise it will look better in a couple days.

Filter? Where's the filter and if your not using one I suggest you get some furnace hamook filter and stuff a little of it in there to keep the squirels or the neighbours cat out. Wouldn't want some wonton, lost Ardvark getting in there would ya?

Yeah, It's got a K&N cone filter in there. I increased the back side hole from 3" to 4". There will be videos tomorrow of me (and maybe some other MX-3s) tearing up a parking lot. I'll get some engine shots, too.
I forgot to turn that canister around, so you don't know it's a flour bin
I wanted a high volume, because I believe that with the 3" or smaller ram setups guys have, they don't have positive pressure at high speed, where I want it.

Leave the flour facing forward. If anyone asks, tell them cupcakes come out the exhaust...

Pastry, Martinis... whatever you need
Speaking of strange fabbing:
Aluminum tape is great. You can layer it, and it holds pretty well. I had a "Mad Max" looking hood scoop on a Chevy van basically made out of Aluminum tape, and it held through all weather from 120 degrees, to snow. It even survived a 70mph collision that ended the van in fire.
For this instance, I layed it across gaps between the bumper hole, and my intake. I just stuck strips across the gaps, and kept layering it. You can build all kinds of stuff with it.

Better yes...still waaaaaay ghetto.

And can we talk about primer for a second? At first I thought the primer thing was pretty cool, but you guys lost me about a year ago. Your cars are literally screaming for paint! It's borderline car abuse.
