Its electronically controlled. A shop can do it for you, but I doubt they will. I'm not sure exactly what tool they use. Probably through an OBDII scan tool/pc hookup

What do you plan on accomplishing by removing the rev limiter? That's just a blown motor waiting to happen....

Speed limiter on the other hand, that's a different story...

The rev limiter is there because the motor CANNOT handle reving past redline...it's there to protect your motor.

I don't think there is a way because it's encoded in the ECU and you can't not have the tach line disconnected because the ECU needs to know the rev's of the motor and when it's doing what.

If i knew, I'd tell you, just so I can hear about you blowing your motor.

Just out of curiosity, does the ECU get the engine speed from the tach wire on the disty or the crank/cam angle sensor(s)? Because if it gets it from the disty you can just cut the signal wire if you really want to disable it.

I'm not sure if anyone has asked that. I would vote no, but I don't know. Some of the miatas used the B6DE. I still would think it would be too different, and you wouldn't gain anything.

even with the b6de the rev is highter and it would gain some
i mean i have had the bottom end built and it can handle more but that limiter is holding it back hard
i mean i like the fact of having one but it kills me that its set at like 6300 rmps i am ready for like 7500 to 8000 rmps with what i have had done to it after market bottom end h beams and pistons and all and balenced and blueprinted and for the top end i had the head ported and polished and put titaniem valves in it to so i have it ready but the damn thing is still there you know!!! any more helpfull ideas?

Ahh, i thought you was some hoob with a stock motor that wanted to rev higher.

Lol, you can't cut the signal wire from the disty...it kinda needs that to know when it's sparking you know?

No I'm talking about the tach signal wire, the one on the 3 pin connector on our V6's, but I just realize what I said was pretty stupid.

Here's an idea. Why don't you first get your car on a dyno. If you don't know what you powerband looks like there is no point in touching the revs. Your powerband can drop at 6000 rmps, if you move your red line to 8000 rpms you may be losing power when you should be shifting and entering the PB in the next gear.

If you don't know what your dyno graph looks like, you'll be making a big mistake. You will probably have to go stand alone to see any benifit to over revving the engine. Even then, just shift.
