manifold ideas for 1.6 sohc

Post by jintud88 »

hey everyone. im new to mazdas but not new to the fi'd scene. had a 91 integra ls-t with all ebay parts and ran great! chirpped the tires in 1st-3rd on 12lbs of boost. now im looking to play with the b6-me.

i've been trying to find out if any turbo manifolds from any of the factory turbo'd motors fit on the sohc 1.6? i was reading the miata turbo mani might fit but it might've been for the dohc 1.6. the only thing i need to know really is if the flange fits. im planning to custom build the manifold and found the flange for a miata b6t 1.6t motor and also the flange for the bp 1.8. just looking for any leads.

if anything i might just hack the flange off a spare manifold nd work from there.

also, im wondering if i should do somesort of topmount setup or a plain log mani like the racingmazda one? w/e i guess. it'll come to me later.

thanks for any info in advance

either hack up an old exhaust manifold or get a gasket and send it out to a machine shop and have them cut you one.
It sucks that there is very little support for the lil single slam

being that this turbo manifold is that last one made by RM. u'll be s--- out of luck finding one of these or anything for the b6-me... as far as boosting a b6-me everything will have to be custom made.. there is no aftermarket support for the sohc at all.

the bp turbo manifold will not fit on the sohc as for the dohc manifolds might work ports should line up.. but u;ll have to re drill new holes to have the bolt pattern line up the sohc and dohc use different bolt patterns

and as far as boosting the sohc ur better off doing a BP swap and starting from there..

boosting a sohc without any kind of EMS isn't worth the shyt..

go bp u will be better off and happier trust me on that

^-- :2thumbsup: I agree with what Lime wrote. Here is two pics of the manifold I ran on my sohc. Old and rusty, after ~7years or so.
