Driver Side Door Lock and Window – Pointers Needed

Post by duaux »

I have searched around the forums but could not seem to find exactly what I was looking for. I am hoping to get some pointers or links to anything that may have already been covered by this forum. If not, some general recommendations.

Thank you.

Specs: MX3, RED, 1994, 4 cyl. Manual

1. My manual window roller seems to be very loose, and gets hard/stiff when rolling upwards. I am afraid that the plastic handle will snap pretty soon. Is there anyway to “fix” or replace whatever is causing it to do so? I.e. open the door to replace X Y Z?

2. My driver side door lock seems to be “jammed” after a brake in attempt. The culprit probably used a flat head screwdriver to force it in. Happened about 1 ½ years ago, I have been getting into my car via the passenger side. The lock still works, by manually locking it from the inside when getting out, but can not open with a key from the outside. Can the lock be easily replaced with another lock? Are there any links on how I would go about to perform this task?

My manual window handle was loose. It turned out the screws came loose in the bracketry that holds it down.

My fix was:

remove door panel, remove handle (rag works to remove the retaning ring, just don't let it fly away!)

The manuals are on the front page of http://www.mx-3.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . get aquainted.

remove door panel.

Find new screws (I work at Mazda, so that was easy) and screw it back on, with locktight.

It also comes that the material down the sides of hte rails gets old and hard, and the window slides harder. Mine still comes a little bit open and I get wind noise. I replaced the handle at such an angle, that when the window is closed, gravity is pulling the handle down, forcing the window up, and I noticed that helped.

2) you need to replace the cylinder. Do this while your panel is off. Its just a little guy attatched to the door handle. remove the handle and it will be easiest. ITs held in my a wire clip that wraps around it... you need to get it repaired somehow, I don't know how...I know you can get the tumblers replaced, go to a locksmith and see what they say.
