The mx wont start

Post by nyzmx3 »

ok heres the run down: im almost to the point of selling this car but i really dont want to....i have a 94 mx3 dohc manual 1.6 ok about 2 months ago i got my valve cover gasket changed and noticed that at idle it has a shutter kind of sputter and when im driving if too slow, in each gear the car would sputter until i give it more gas. I replaced the plugs and wires, but still no effect. Ok now i go outside and and i try to start my car and it cranks but it wont start!! wtf, so i try this about 15 -20 times and the car sounds like its dying while cranking...even the ignition beeping noise is starting to die, but the radio and lights work. Is it possible that its a symptom of a bad distributor?? sorry if this is long but im trying to be specific bc i dont have enough money to waste.

looks like you ran the battery dry. Go ahead and charge it back up.

Next would be to test and see if you have spark. You can pull the spark plug wires, get a spark tester at advance or autozone for 6 dollars, and slap it to the end of the wires. check and see if you're getting any spark through there.

You can also check the distributor cap and rotor to see if there is unusual wear.

Try cleaning up the grounds for the headlights and whatever else you can easily access. The wires in
these cars are old and have thier cranky pants on.
