I never noticed the brakes heating up with the Moon Discs on. I drive the old gurl pretty hard too! LOL

They are more money then regular hubcaps, but much cheaper then wheels. You can get them here:

http://www.mooneyesusa.com/Store/index. ... c235ca83d8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Two small problems of being that cool. The valve stem is under the cap, so you have to remove them to fill up your tires. The other small problem is gravel! You can hear graval rattling around in there up to a week after going down a gravel road. To me they are worth it though

I went on an adventure to Simcoe to pick up a 1994 Mazda MX-3 V6 5SPD for $500.00! My Adventure was a complete success! The dude that owned the car had given me a un-easy feeling and I could not seem to pin him down to a time to pick it up. He calls me and confesses that he had been trying to find a set of old tires to put on it, but he can't find any! Turns out the poor guy just put four brand new Marangoni tires on the car. I laughed. I just brought my Falken / Maxxim rims and tires with me and stuck them on. Larry who turned out to be a really cool dude, agreed to bring me the wheels when he gets the tires taken off them. I actually believe he will. (stand-up kinda guy). The wheels are the cool 5 spoke 15" Mazda wheels. If they had been the ugly ones, he could have kept them LOL.

Well what does a Running, driving Mazda MX-3 V6 5-spd for $500.00 look like? Not that bad actually! It has some serious bubbling paint with some rust underneath, but it was not terrible. The car is mechanically sound, in-fact I had the moon roof open, the cruise control on and the A/C was pumping cold air! The engine is two stroke now though. (It burns a fair bit of oil) 340000KM. I am not using the rusty part or the oil burning part on project 323 so for me it is perfect. I will take some pictures for you guys. This sucker has many parts you guys will likely want also. I will post all the parts with pictures and prices in the near future. :D

Congrats!
There are deals out there.. I got a gen II RX-7 13b for $800 with nothing wrong with it. Drove it for about 3 years, and only had to change a radiator hose. I also drove a '72 Cutlass for a couple years that I got for $75, and it was one of the fastest cars I've owned (blueprinted Rocket 350).
I'm watching your build!

I was feeling a little bad about using my new MX-3 for a parts car. It looked to be in pretty good shape. I took it to the car wash tonight and had a good look at it. The body is so rough, it looks like it is ready to split in two! There is nothing left of the rockers, lower quarter panels or most of the floor. A shiny coat of paint on what must have been quite the turd! The guy that owned it was a mechanic. It is in tip top mechanical form. Beyond the new distributor (that I am very happy about), it also has a fresh cap, rotor and NGK plug wires on it too! Newer front struts, strut mounts and a new A/C condenser and A/C lines. Too bad I won't be re-installing the A/C. The brakes must have been done quite recently also. I degreased the engine and engine compartment tonight. Although I won't be using the engine, I am likely going to use 100% of the rest of the mechanical's. Looks like the body will be the only 323 part left on my 323! A Mazda 323 with MX-3 DNA that will hopefully become a MX-326 or would that be a MX-623??

Thanks. I don't think I am in over my head, but I am just a little scared. (healthy fear). There is an alarming amount of Mazda parts piling up in my garage, not even sure where to stick all the MX-3 parts yet! I am going to concentrate on dismantling the MX-3 Saturday, and then concentrate on cleaning the aftermath in the shop on Sunday  I bought myself some little labels that you tie on with string. These, good notes and some pictures will hopefully help during the reassembly of the MX-32-6.

Holy crap! After I labeled every plug it looked like a freakin' Christmas tree! The MX-3 harness is much bigger and more complex then I had figured! (I come from a knuckle dragging V8 carburetor background). Unlocked some MX-3 secrets this weekend. My MX-3 is about to split in two from a questionable quarter panel repair! I had figured the car had been re-sprayed silver over red, but it turns out only one quarter panel is red underneath the car was originally silver. Some evidence of a fender bender on the left front corner also. Saturday morning I drove the MX-3 into the garage and 2 AM Sunday morning I yanked the empty rusty shell out of the garage with my 323 and a tow rope. My neighbor's likely didn't even know what was going on as one of them was having a very loud party. The wheel-less MX-3 sled/plow was likely not heard over the yelling ya-who's at the party, as I dragged it up the gravel driveway! The car had a full tank of gas, so I pulled the tank to empty it. I was emptying it into a huge funnel in to some gas cans for what seemed like an eternity! Then I noticed it had a brand new shiny black filler tube with a fresh Mazda part number decal on it! As I sat there I noticed the tank had been recently repaired with new soldered on nipples. Then to my surprise I saw tiny shiny hex head bolts holding the sending unit in. (instead of Philips head machine screws). I opened it up and sure enough a new fuel pump inside! sweet! This was the best parts car ever! the only minor misgivings were a untidy electrical repair in the harness at the accident repair (signal lights), a non functioning aftermarket alarm that seemed to be scotch clipped to every wire in the car twice and hacked stereo wiring. A little bit of wire, solder and some heat shrink and it will be as good as new. I spent most of today cleaning up / out my garage and making decisions. Dorky stained 323 seats or cool comfy worn out MX-3 seats?? (that kind of deal). What to keep, what to pitch, what to sell action. Next trip I will focus on broken bolt and rust repair on the 323 shell.

the mx3 seats are one of the best i have ever sat in. only problem with them in the 323 is that you sit quite abit lower, im 5'6" on a good day and the 323 steering wheel was in my line of sight. i put the mx3 interior in my 323 but it does not fit so nice nor go in so easy, had to do some custom work to the dash and door panels, still not sitting in there so good. will fix it over the winter when i have some time to myself and not fixing other peoples cars.

I am 5' 9" (mostly upper body) so that will work out just great. :D
I am just going to use the front seats and dash cluster from the MX-3. I may use the MX-3 dash in my Mustang though

Pictures from Saturday's adventure. Warning contains graphic MX-3 violence and nudity, viewer discretion is strongly advised!

10:00AM The MX-3 didn't even see it coming. (poor thing)

It looked better then it really was, honest.

MX-3's do have carnivorous washer bottles too!! (not just 323's)
Image

I cleaned the whole car including the engine.
Image
Image
Image

First I took off the front clip, doors and then I stripped the interior out.
Image
Then the interior. I labeled all the plugs (all ten million of them)
Image
note: The jealous Mustang sneaking into the picture. (attention whore).
Image

Then I pulled the engine. (actually I pulled the car, the engine never moved).
Image
Image

After that I pulled the rear suspension, gas tank and rear hatch (more pictures to come).
The MX-3 went to car heaven today :crying:

And you paid how much for that car? $500 was it? Not bad at all.
Can't wait to see your project come together!

Since you got that for 500, there's no way I'm paying more than 400 for one with a blown motor, and rust...

I'm gonna use you/your cheap mx as a reference to knock down the guy's price, if that's alright? lol
