Save all images in online manual

Post by Mad Cow »

It would be nice to be able to save all images in a folder from the online manual. Doing every page manually is very tedious and sometimes the only choice, like in the electrical troubleshooting section where the images are way to big and you have to scroll all over the place just to read it.

if you'd like to put up some cash for a server it might be doable... that is, if the mods don't mind doing countless hours of work for no gain.

How would this put a significant amount of load on the server? Sure you will be downloading some stuff you don't need, but I think it'll even out if you only ever have to access it once because you have everything saved on your computer. Plus, the largest images aren't any more than 90kb in size, that's tiny. No gain? How about making it feasible to print out a copy of the whole manual? It's useful to have a full print copy that you can take with you instead of having an assortment of random loose pages.

I realize it might get complicated with the software they use, but somebody with access to the hosting server with those images could also make them into a .pdf and upload it pretty much anywhere. That's what people do for ATV service manuals, I can't see why that can't be done here.

Why can't a guy try to dl their own images and do it themselves? The resource is here and free. If you want it better organised or a different size, what is stopping you from doing it? So many people like to offer suggestions to change things... few have the ambition to do anything about it. This site is not the only thing the MODs do, they have lives and better things to do. Basically, it's been this way for years... if you don't like it go on ebay and buy a shop manual. I have an electrical manual and am glad. I'll probably buy the massive shop manual some day too.

I admit I lack the ambition to manually download a few hundred pages. What would take me over a day would take a someone with access to the server less than 30 minutes. I have a life too you know.

And last time I checked, this is the recommendations forum, not the demands forum. I'm just giving a suggestion, not demanding that they do this. And so what if it's been this way for years? If everybody said that we'd still be in the stone age.

Again, this is just a suggestion, no need to get all defensive. How about we wait until a mod reads this, I'm fine with them simply saying no. Asking isn't gonna hurt anybody.

I recommend searching google very hard, You just might find it. Or learn how to get directories off websites :)
