Bought a 93 MX3 GS -Love it!

Post by chrismo »

I was looking for a cheap car and came across a few mx3's on craigslist. I didnt really know anything about them but liked the way they looked. I ended up buying one certified and e-tested for $1500. 310,000 KM on body 60,000 on engine.

What a great car! I love this thing! That little v6 has got some kick to it! It's 10x le$$ than my other car, but it's all I want to drive now. I've been reading up here, and I've got the mx3 bug.

Anyway - I've got a spare passenger side window motor & assembly (and wiring - No switch). If anyone wants it - take it free.
I'm in Toronto.

Welcome! That's how it started for me, too. I have my first MX-3 and an even faster one! Do you know if the engine is the 1.8, or could it be a 2.5?

I was told they had replaced the engine without upgrading it. But I was surprised at how fast it is, so I looked for any identifying marks.... Couldn't really see anything on the engine itself, but the Air intake had a k8 stamped into it. Also it passed emissions, so I'm thinking it is the 1.8.

Here are some pics of my new ride.
Was this an original colour? I didnt see it listed as an option, but have seen other MX-3's the same colour.

Things to fix:
•The rear bumper has been badly repaired by the previous owner.
•Clean the paint off these rims, or fix up a set of 5 stars I have which are flaking paint.
• Justify a KLZE

Lips are hard to come by I assume?
I was thinking of removing it for the winter since it will likely bottom out in the snow.

Yea the color is called Laguna Blue. When I first wanted a MX3 that is the color I wanted oddly enough. Don't see many on the road that is for sure!

If you get to drive a ZE, it'll justify itself!

It looks better in the photo than it does in real life. There a a bunch of tiny paint chips in the front, and the rear bumper was fiberglassed really badly.
Here's a pic of the bad bumper.

If I find a replacement bumper, I'll repaint. Otherwise I'll try re-doing the fiberglass fix. I've never used fiberglass before though. Only bondo.
