To the person who mentioned cirsco..

Post by Dark_Rider2k3 »

I had my valve cover off to replace my lifters/valve cover seal and so I decided to paint my valve cover.

I used crisco on the "Mazda" and "16 valve," and it worked out great! The crisco came off easily with a small towel, and yeah.. it worked out great!!

I recommend doing this over using painters tape... the painters tape (for me) was harder to use around small edges and little places that you didn't want painted, and this just worked out extremely well!!

I painted my valve cover, then filed the raised letters with a fine file and clear coated it so it wouldn't oxidize or anything. Came out pretty nice, but the pain isn't sticking very well, so I'll have to do it again.
