layman here, need some terms

okay I'm getting confused trying to figure out turbos on the rs
I cant get an idea on what I need
I know you need the turbo, the manifold, an intercooler, fuel management
now where I get confused is people use too many abreviations and brand names
I need to know whats required for sure and whats nice to have and whats useless
I'm new to fuel injection and imports and turbos, any information helps

Don't mean to be an a--... But if you don't know the terms then you are not ready to get blown.

You can not cut corners, everything works together.

The parts list has been posted so many times it's really not funny.

Off the top of my head:
Turbo
Manifold
Intercooler
Fuel injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Blow off valve
wastegate (if not integral)
intercooler piping
Fuel pump
Boost guage
Boost controller
Widband Air fuel guage
Piggyback or stand alone management
Clutch
oil and water feed and return lines (pending on turbo)
Couplers and t-bolts
misc nuts/washers and bolts
oil catch can

I know I'm not ready, hence the point of this topic, I want to know all of this before even buying a turbo
or taking things off my car
now I have a automatic, will it hold up?

Ummm doubt it. But I really don't know much about the auto's. I have yet to hear anything good about them tho.
Is it a SOHC 92-93 or DOHC 94-96?

The autos don't even hold up to stock engines

Well, you don't have any easy options. That is the worst combo for a project car. Everything can still be done, it just takes more effort.

I'm guessing that the BPT swap is easier, there is a importer here in calgary so I cen get my hands on one

Yes and no. JDM source will have pretty much most of what you need. Make sure to get the wiring harness and ecu. the 96 harness is specific to the 96 as is the ecu. It might be easier to swap out the tranny and required parts instead of going to the bp. Either way it will not be cheap or all that easy.

are auto. to manual swaps even possible?

You are correct. The MTX and ATX have different ecu's. Either way you'll have to swap out the ecu and *modify or swap the wiring harness.

fortuanatly the junk fleet of trucks bridgebrand has driving in calgary keep wireing fresh in my mind
so its looking like you and I have similar cars, but mines bone stock
