Camshaft sprockets what way?

Post by Happydane »

Hi.

I'm new in here, but I know there is users that know alot about the KLZE engine.
I have a Mazda 626 with a KLZE V6 engine, and I have a broken timingbelt, and during the disassemble, I saw that my Camshaft sprockets is mounted in different way.

So here is a link to my webpage, and the pictures showing what I talk about.

Back CS

Front CS
http://www.harregaard.net/KLZE/Forreste-knasthjul.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I not sure that the top timing belt wheels is called camshaft sprockets, but I think they do.

What way should they be... my haynes manual dosen't show, and my carfriends don't know, and I don't put on a new timing belt before I know for sure.

Thank for your time.

It looks like your front one is on backward. Is there a timing dot on it?

Hi.

There is a mark on the side, and a yellow dot from a marker.

Hmm. Would you put up a pic with both, straight on, and a straight on of the front one? They should both have the lip to the outside of the engine.

They are not mounted backwards. Both pullies are the same part. one side is left and the other is right. As long as the front head is on teh Left side and the rear is on the Right its good.

this is correct. eventhough one looks like it is on backwards, it is not. I thought the same thing. just make sure that the L and the R are on the right banks.

Hi.

I made this graphic of how my CS is now, and is this also the correct way, or do I misunderstand you?

Sorry the text is in Danish, but you can see the CS

A little translation.

Motor = Engine
Bagerste Knasthjul = back CS
Forreste Knasthjul = front CS

My cam sprockets for k8 and ZE have lips on both sides! I wrote which head they go on, on the front of them. Also you should see the timing dots dabbed in yellow paint. Fowljesse I bet yours were the same :)

NO no no. oh i hope your not doing timing yourself.

ANYWAYS. lol. look on the actual sprocket it self on the front of the engine not on top of the sprockets like you are referring to. There should be a L and a R on each sprocket. The R should be on the rear head and the L should be on the front head.

Go read the FAQ on the front page under V6 FAQ there is a walk through of how to change your timing belt.
