Engine Dead...but not...

Post by Cy »

K so..

buddy's 94 v6 mx-3 totally stock..

in-tank Fuel pump is 1/2 dead...so i installed an inline pump in the back seat, using the old pump as a pickup and then onto the old line to the engine bay...worked fine...
It was wired directly to power and ground with a switch ...no fuse...didn't have any...new plugs installed too..

Took it for a test drive and i flipped the power on the fuel pump off...which definetly cut the power(hp) the car had...flipped it back on and the Tach dropped and the engine died...

pulled out my trusty paperclip and ten-gnd'd it and got a Code 4...crank sensor...

So i've used a test light on just about everything i could think of...but the crank senor..

-everything is getting power...
-we have fuel...wet plugs..
-we let the car sit for a couple days..came back to it and checked for spark... had it ..now we don't....

- it turns over...but nothing...

Cap and rotor points are a little more then worn..gonna grab new stuff tomorrow..
Also gonna pull out the disty and put a drill on it ...will the tach move based on that? is is the crank sensor part of the tach pulse?
