I am not sure the Aluminum would look in my car though

I'm going to look @ more pics of 'em and try to get an idea of what they'd be like...
but yeah, i'm just going to keep looking on Ebay, as i'm not in a real big hurry (I have a nice bundle of parts coming in from Trevo that i'll be messing with first)

Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
a bit off topic, but what about the miata chrome outer handles?
would they fit?

would they fit?

Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
I haven't tried myself, but I'm almost positive I've seen that question before, and the answer was a definite no.

Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
yeah I will definately be looking for the brushed aluminum ones
I'm not a fan of chrome.... but after looking at this auction (not sure if it was the same one... the handles actually look like a gunmetal color and not aluminum??

But that's what it says in the original post, I NEVER EVER said they were metal handles.... nope, nope, didn't do it. Don't know what you're talking about. Did you hear anything? I didn't. Oh, look, candy!
Haha, i'll snap a picture of the whole door panel so you can see how it blends with the interior, sure.
I ended spending 75 shipped for both handles. They're pricey, but the price of adding sensible, clean, attractive and well-built mods to your car is high.

Negative sir, the original post is original. It would have said, "edited by "blah blah" this number times total" on the end of it or somthing similar. But I "do not recall" any other previous thread that might have gotten deleted that I'd say such a thing.

Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
Just got my Mazdaspeed Miata brushed aluminum handles... they are really nice. I believe they are just painted over chrome handles because uninstalled, some of the unviewed portions of the handle are chrome. Have a much better feel and appearance though!

Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
so in your opinion would we be better off just painting our black handles with a super tough brushed aluminum enamel?

Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
For the shear look of the handles, it would probably be just the same to paint the black handles with a brushed aluminum paint/enamel. However these miata handles (I am including the chrome ones because of what others have said) are much more solid and sturdy feeling so those may be a better choice to paint (if you so desire).Mooneggs wrote:so in your opinion would we be better off just painting our black handles with a super tough brushed aluminum enamel?
Re: Installing Chrome Miata Handles
No matter which way you slice it (I kind of like mine diagonal) the miata handle(s) are still stronger and sturdier. Less flex and better feel in general.
I wouldn't use ANY type of enamel, though. On anything. I've had bad luck using enamels when painting one of my laptops. If it's something you grab every day, don't do it! Is the conclusion I drew. If you paint your handles or any part that is going to see abnormal abuse, I would suggest just picking a high quality color, such as a car paint or such, and sealing it with a super-tough clearcoat afterwards, such as Pelucid.
Here's a tip I got from someone who does alot of boating: The marine environment is one of the harshest. If it's good enough for marine use, it's good enough for ANYTHING.
