Transmission Help
So I am coming home from NJ to Va Beach, VA...half way home in Salisbury MD., my car makes this weird grinding noise and the car slows down so fast that the tires start to screach...so I pulled over, turn the car off and inspected the brakes...no problem with them...then I check the engine bay no smoke no vaccum hose loose no problems...so I get back in the car press the clutch the car starts...in nuetral I let off the clutch and the car stalls with no kick or pull...so I try again but this time I was gonna release the clutch in 1st gear...but the shifter will not shift into 1st,...so finally I call a wrecker they get me back to there shop and inspect...and they found that the transmission has stuck gears in it...he says I need new gears...or a new tranny...tranny swap 2000 (used tranny) 2400 (new). So I had them tow my car 130 miles from northen MD to VA beach ($500)...My plans are to go to Pick and Pull and buy a used tranny out of a MX-6 or MX-3 GS...I have a brand new clutch already I bought 3 months ago...is there anyone in the Hampton Roads or anywhere that can offer some good tips...I am a amatuer mechanic...the most I have done to my car is replace the entire A/C system, change belts, and other simple things...but I am thinking I may be able to do the swap myself...if I have to spend $2000 for it, I will go and buy a more reliable used car....please help.

Re: Transmission Help
these cars are hard to find here we don't have many junk yards here. Thats why I am on here .I'm not giving up until I get everything that I need for my baby I love this car and wouldn't give it up for nothing so I have to find all the parts, I think you know what I mean when I say this these cars are something else. I think that I found what I was looking for on here but thanks for all your help! Brandie
