[FS] 1993 rs

Post by 1992blazeredgs »

I have a 1993 teal rs for sale. 105,000 miles on the car. Interior is mint. New tires, exhaust, timing belt, waterpump, and front brakes. The car runs good but has an overheating problem. Or atleast the gauge is saying it is over heating. I believe it to be a faulty gauge, but i am not positive. I really need this car gone. I am graduating college in 3 months and I dont have the time to fix up this car. It would be an awesome car for a bp swap. The car blue books at $1800. Pictures are available upon request. I am asking $1000 obo because i need this car gone soon.

Kudos man - that's $660 profit since you bought this car for $300 and spent $40 to get it running -

If you have access to a anything that is capable of towing a car, you can rent one of those trailers that gets the front wheels of the ground for like $40 bucks. It might be worth looking into.

if it's running, why does it need to be towed?

I thought you said you know for a fact it's not overheating?

It can be driven. I drove it 120 miles two weeks ago. It does want to overheat at idle, but will not while it is going down the road. However, he wants to drive it from west lafayette, to Wisconsin meaning he would have to drive through chicago. I would not feel comfortable doing that much city driving, so I suggested a tow.

Not trying to bust your gut, but if you think it's the gauge then there shouldn't be any problems driving it. You indicated it wants to overheat at idle but not while going down the road. Therefore, would this be more than just a gauge?

Otherwise, does it have power windows? Any other power accessories? I assume it's the 1.6, 4 banger engine? Any rust on the body? I may make a serious consideration. Can you provide pictures of the interior?

Thanks

Sounds like a bad thermostat.

I thought the gauge was bad, because it would read hot while the motor was still cold enough that I could put my hand on the valve cover. I am talking within 3 minutes of initial start in freezing weather. I bought an auto meter temp guage and wired it up. The car does not over heat while going down the road, but will over heat while sitting at idle. However, if you put the car in neutral while idling and rev up the motor it will not over heat. I believe there to be a clog somewhere causing the over heating at idle. The water pump is new, and so is the thermostat. I am getting out of the mx3 game and I have already bought another car. So i need this mx3 gone. $800 bucks is a good deal. The car blue books at $1800. I also would rate the car in fair condition.
