andrewlcraft's 1994 MX3 RS

Post by andrewlcraft »

My wife's new car, our first MX3, picked up 2 days ago. I also own a 1995 Escort LX, so keeping it all in the family, heh.

She's black on black, interior is near perfect, except for the front seats, hence the horrible seat covers. Exterior is good, although little chips in the hood & front bumper and hood is faded. 231,000 miles & running strong. Everything seems to work inside except the aftermarket cruise control.

Got tons of plans of course, so I'll try & lay out a brief, realistic overview of what we want to do with her:

And note, seat covers are off. Driver's seat has a hole in the left side bolster, otherwise seats are in good shape!

Here's some initial pics after some cleaning up!

Got my Infinity FX35 bi-xenon projectors today! I now need to pick up a spare pair of headlamps to get started on the retrofit! 8)

Yeah, it's got an extra stalk for the cruise tacked on below the one for the turn signals. Gets in the way :?

In the garage is my 1968 Volvo 142. It's a perpetual project that's waiting for me to make a decision(and money) about carbs or fuel injection.

Close on the cargo cover :D It's broken on one side, but still sits in place well!

Hehehe. It looks like a good project, but consider getting a exhaust shop to make custom piping for the exhaust, I always have done that and have no issues.

Got a few things in progress:

Nicole is making a killer set of seat covers for the stock seats, black & red vinyl with red piping....

The projector retrofit is finally making some baby steps....

Started work on the exhaust, picked up an ebay "cat delete" that is definitely not a "bolt on", but is a start. I'm thinking I'll fab in this piece, which is essentially a resonator, get a magnaflow muffler for the rear, and leave the rest stock. From my searches here, most seem to think that bigger tubing for a reletively stock DOHC is plenty, so I'll give it a shot :D

I'll get some in-progress pics this weekend!
