Post by crazycanadian »

Hey everyone.. I have been mainly just lerking around here but I figured I'd post up some pictures of my little project car.. its an 88 323 DX.. I think I have met a few people from the cork sport event and possibly a couple other small events..

I know they are night shots hopefully when the weather gets a little better I'll clean the car up a bit, put the 17's back on and get some good pictures..

BPT would be fun but I have these two motors to choose from right now..

B6 with a bunch of custom work for a turbo freshly rebuilt..

Or an F2T I have had sitting around for about a year now...

I officialy have an addiction to collecting parts.. just as I got rid of all my cavilier parts I find a new parts car for my little 323.. tonight I picked up an 89 323 GT 4 door... turbo 1.6L in it with a siezed turbo... I officaly now have 3 turbo motors and 2 good turbos... someday I hope one of these motors will actualy make it into my car..

The GT comes with performance springs, struts, bigger sway bars, new bushings, rear disc brakes, blitz blow off valve, geredy boost controler all for $200..

Well the weather was nice enough out today for me to start tearing down the parts car.. A closer look at the car tells me its a good thing she's heading for the bone yard.. The rocker pannels are rotting out, rust over the rear wheels, the frame for the rear suspension is rotting.. Over all the body is showing the 370,000km its got on it..

Image

Poor car I am always working it hard... but this is what I love about a hatch..

Image

How worn out is your suspension? mine was looooooooong over due.. both the rear struts were full of water.. no wonder they froze this winter... check out the shaft play on this strut..

Image

Stock struts and my cut springs compaired to the newish KYB GR2's and HKS springs..

Image

While I was at it I did the GT rear disc swap as well..

Image
Image

All said and done the new suspension and my 17"s back on for summer raised the car up about 1".. it ride sooooooooo much nicer now..

I also put on the GT grill and was playing around with my hood a bit..

If you look close as well you'll notice I added new side view mirrors a little while ago.. They came off my old 90 Cavilier Z24.. The passengers side turned out perfect.. but the drivers side I still have to rework.... I need to pick up some plastic to create the trim around the mirror and remount it... Over all I think they look pretty slick..
