How about this idea for CF

Post by Mnemonic »

Ok so we all know that its harder and harder ot find slim visors right? so why not get them made in CF? I like the Idea :)

Anyone else

we would just need someone to sacrifice a set, but i'm sure for your sacrifise you can work up a prototype one for free or a lil less :)

I'd buy a pair. Lost one of my original slim visors last week on the highway, so need a new pair anyway :(

yeah, that meh option is a little too tempting lol. I kinda like the idea, but i'm sure i wont like the price, if they get made they will sell for like 300$ or something, so ima go with meh for now :D

a buddy has an mx-3 in cornwall, and we made a set of slimvisors for him. We just used my set of regular ones to make the pattern and traced it onto i think it was 1/8'' smokes plexiglass, it came out lookin sikk, next time im down at his place, i'll try and get some pics to show you lads.

There's a couple of great comparison photos on the second page of:
http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph ... &&start=15

I just recently bought another mx-3.com member's mx-3 RS, it has slim visors, but the tapes in starting to peel at the front right. I think I'll have to remove it soon and maybe make a patern. It looks easy enough to make copies of, as it is just flat plastic that has been cut to shape and then the edges dressed.

The discussion thread linked above had a discussion of the performance of the visor in rain. I wonder is a simple outward bend at the lowest point, or if undercutting the interior side would be enough to divert the drips of water away from the window chanel...

If they were made they could not cost anywhere near $300 , they would probraly be around 80-110 for carbon fiber ones , If I end up keeping my car I would be interested

agreed, they wouldnt even come close to costing 300, if anything probably only about 150, making them wouldnt be that hard, and the material cost should be very low since they are so small. 1 sheet of cf would probably make 3-4 sets
