Is this where shifter bushings go?

I want to confirm that I have the right locations for the 4 bronzoil bushings, two on each end of the arm, see photo's below and quick example diagram.

Is this correct?

If these are correct, I'll probably do a quick writeup later.... I just bought all these parts and wanted to be sure before I start digging in.

Yup, 100% spot on. Watch the member mount bushings and make sure they flush up to the cross member. A buddy of mine got some that were just a fad too thin. The bolt is sleeved where it goes through the bushing. The result was that the bolt was sitting on the member instead of the bushing. You could then twist and wiggle the bushing and it was not doing anything to stop vibration or hold anything still. tisk tisk Luke, poor QC...

Ah, figured it out after playing with the thing. the front ones are mounted verticaly not horizontaly.

Having put the bronzoil bushes in, It's probably going to be better to take photo's with the shiny new bushings in since its so much easier to see whats what.

Still quite a lot of left right movement with the stick, but the stick feels much smoother and firmer going into gear.

I wonder if the shifter plate has come loose and is moving around inside making the stick have a lot of left right movement.

Going to have to get a long 12mm socket or a seperate wrench for the extension rod, and 14mm 17mm socket for the engine member mount bushings.

THanks for the pointer regarding the member mount bushings PATDIESEL, the instructions in the PDF aren't that clear. Hopefully it will all make sense when I take the thing appart and look at it properly :)

I will make a proper guide to doing the whole lot once I'm done.

Here's what the Bronzoil bushings look like on the car. You can see the nice shiny metal a lot easier than the old plastic bushings.

Sounds like you didn't buy the third link bushings and if you replaced all the others and still have any shifter slop at all you need to modify the third link also.

Heh yeah, I would have gotten the third link only SRD said that they had discontinued the engine mount member bushings. Cork Sport had a shipment of the engine mount bushings so I ordered all the shifter bushings I could get from cork.

I'll put the rest of the bushings in, and if its still sloppy I'll get the 3rd link off of SRD Performance.

It's already shifting MUCH better with just these bronzoil bushings :).

PS. Missed the URL you posted the first time :), thanks for that, looks like a cheap and easy solution without having to wait for shipping etc :)

I know this is an old topic but it helped me with my b&m short shifter install with bronzoil bushings. My question is that I only installed the two bushings at the shifter and not the other two and the shifting is great. Would it make much of a difference to put the other two bushings in?? :?:

IMO I would say yes... I've done it to both my cars for more precise shifting...

Did you find it easy to install the srd shifter extension rod bushing? I got it half way on and cant get it to squeeze in the rest of the way. Do I have to take the rod off first because from under the car I cant bang it hard enough to get it to go in all the way?

I can't remember exactly what I did but I remember it was a huge pain on both cars!

I might have even unbolted everything else to get a better angle with the rod... can't remember though... :roll:

Thanx I only have two jack stands and have no room laying under the car. I only banged it on half way but it is really tight. It should be ok, I drove around and seems fine. Next time I go in for an oil change I'll see if they can get it on all the way when the car is in the air. With the exhaust pipes in the way it is really hard to bang it in, anyway thanx I just wanted to make sure it wasn't supposed to be an easy job.

I know I had the same feeling so I took it to the shop and it took the mechanic a half hour to put it on, he said i should have taken off the rod and used a clamp to squeeze it in. He just used a long bolt with a washer at each end and a bolt on one side and that made it fit, he said that I would have never been able to do it by laying under the car because the muffler pipe was in the way and it was a tight fit. Anyway I am glad its done and the shifting is much better. :D
