Audio system help

Post by nritchie2 »

Hi, I recently brought a MX3 and want to upgrade the sound system. Now i thought this would be easy last year and tried doing it to my old rover 214si but it sounded awful! So i ended up paying to get it done professionaly. Im sure i will be ok to install it but just have know idea what the best things to buy are.

Ideally I would like a very good quality sound with a lot of bass. I have a budget of around £500 for the audio system. I already have my headunit which is an alpine ipod one, can't remember the model number but i don't feel i need to replace it.

Basically what I'm after is if someone could just tell me the best bits to buy to get the highest quality sound.

Thanks in advance

so 500 pounds = approx $980 USD = approx $1100 CAN

1. Get four REALLY good speakers, and an ok amplifier
2. Get Four ok speakers, and a mono amp and sub setup
3. Get ok mono amp and good sub setup

don't think you can get good quality sound + a lot of bass unless you spend a lot of time listening to a lot of different speakers -and invest a lot more time searching for some amazing deals!!!

Good luck though - I got my PPI amp for $200 -that was a great find for me!!!!!!

I would recommend these speakers for the front

http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart ... roduct=194

Cadence CWM-6

Use the code SAVE10 on checkout for an additional 10% if you decide to get them. They are amazing speakers for the price.

I can't recommend any rear speakers because I don't have any and don't plan on getting any because they mess up the soundstage.

As for bass. I have Phoenix Gold 10" Xenon x10d4. I absolutely love this sub! With the correct sealed box, you will be amazed at how low they can hit.

I would check out http://www.caraudioforum.com for more expert opinions.
