Took my MINI to the drags!

Post by cjthor »

Well just ticked 2000 miles on my MINI Cooper S GP and figured id blast it down the track. Car is bone stock other than a header. Trying to launch on run flat street tires SUCKS. Best time of the night was 15.0@97mph. I did not stage the car and basically started from idle with the traction control sytem on and before I hit second gear id turn it off to get a touch of wheelspin going into second....rather than having the traction control kill the car when the wheels started to slip. I will have an in car video posted on youtube in a day or so.

Ha, I don't think they should have put traction control on the "racing" version of the car, but good times anyway. Does turning the traction control off acutally work? Post some pics of the car. If you have posted them in the past I must have missed them.

Traction control makes your car slow at the drag strip.

of course it does..but...if youre on street tires with 200hp it helps a bit with the launch if you dont want to burn clutch.
