new guy here and my first drag experience...
last weekend i took my 1994 1.6 dohc atx to the strip. my best time out of 21 tries was 18.787 seconds. the only mods i have is a cone intake and an aftermarket muffler. i currently have my a/c and p/s unhooked and i also stripped my interior for this trip(no pass. seat, no rear seats, no carpet, no interior panels, no headliner, no spare, etc...)this sound about normal for an atx with 129,000 miles??

lol i really have no idea what altitude we are at. but if you have any way of seeing i was in clay city, Ky 40336. and i haven't had it dyno'd but id say it would be crappy numbers. i love my mx3 though its such a fun car to play in the snow with... i love doing donuts without having to use the e-brake

i went to the track again today and best out of 22 tries today i got a 18.413 @ 73.909 mph. MY slip read this:
Dial in : 0.0
Reaction : 0.514
T1 : 2.785
T2 : 7.813
T3 : 11.904
MPH (T3) : 60.465
E.T. : 18.413
MPH : 73.909
can anyone make any sense out of this? im new to the whole drag thing and im just curious if these times im getting sound right for what i have done to my car.which is posted up above^^

.514 light.... DAMNNNNN

+5hp+5hp+3hp+2hp. = 105(new flywheel hp) +16hp = 121hp
-20#-35#-8#-5#-3#-20#-3# = 2480lbs - 94lbs = 2386 + U = ?2536lbs
rough calc = 16.92s 1/4 mile

O k nvm then...they read the RT as Time from the light green as .000jackhorn40336 wrote:lol i take it that is bad? my best at the light was like .045 last weekend
Most places run a .500second light...and add your RT to that.

**EditedHorsepower Based On 1/4-Mile E.T.
Your MX-3 RS which weighs about 2536 pounds should complete the 1/4-Mile in about 18.413 seconds, if you can produce about 80.29 HP at the wheels, or about 104.38 HP at the flywheel.

Those runs were probably worse eh....
That's SO not a good thing todo... tuning must be done precisely, to net any results.
The mass airflow only is 1 factor in the Injector duty cycle...doing what you did would probably be counteracted by the O2 sensor... and the fuel would have stayed roughly the same..
either way...it probably didn't help you out eh...
1st thing i'd do is make a functional Ram air intake for track days... outa PVC..so it could be easily removed and installed...
I made mine with some 1/8" plastic... I made a airbox with a long lower lip that protrudes down below the lower front crossbeam and under my bumper..Plastic top, metal bottom, aluminum ductwork collector to the cone...it's cheap and it works for a day @ a race-track...

I attached mine to the short-ram i have with just alot of ductape....It was screwed to the crossbeam so it wasn't going to fall off..
I'd used a pipe reducer and plasti-weld a piece of aluminum screen door screen over the pipe before the reducer and then couple the coupler to whatever you have for an intake track now......
It's going to require some personal handiness....make it as you like...i can't really give you any specific ideas because i used what was availible to me @ the time for free...
