100% Clear headlights

Post by Suresperance »

i noticed a while ago here on the fourms that afew of you were looking for 100% clear healights. i saw some pics and did a little looking around (for like the past month or so) on ebay.de and i beleive that the german headlights either are 100% clear or they have access to clear ones because like 3/4 of the german MX-3s ive seen have no despersal pattern on them. i just happend to know a guy (a friend of my uncle) who lives in germany so im in contact with him as we speak seeing if he can track down a set for me. if he can ill have him ship them here right away. i was wondering how many of you would be interested in them and how much you would be willing to pay if i do end up getting 100% clear ones. ill import more if theres demand for it.

THIS IS NOT A SCAM and i dont plan on making any profit off of them i just want to help supply the MX-3 community with good looking headlights instead of crappy plasic pattern-ized and yellowing headlights. i cant imagine it would be cheap but they would be worth it. just post and say if youd be interested or not and ill get back as soon as i know if he can get some or not.

thanks
Nick

They are clear because Euro lights are glass instead of plastic. Most reasonable would probably be stripping them from junkyard MX3's as they'd still be clear, as long as they're not cracked. Last person who priced new ones from Europe got over $500 price ...... not worth $500 for headlights for a 14 year old car IMO.

I'm definitely in, depending on the price however, cause they can get quite pricey, but the german euro headlights are perfect for a few reasons:

- Glass lenses instead of plastic. So better transparancy and no fading/fogging
- German Mx-3's are left-hand drive, so the beam patter will be proper for those of us in North America
- They use the H4 headlights instead of the 9004, so even stock they have a better lighting system

I've been up and down trying to find a set. Right now I'm trying to be economical about the price since i'm in paying-off-debts-mode. Last i checked on eBay, they went for just under $200 per light, not cheap. I know i'll get them eventually, but if you can bring them in at a resonable price, i'm in!

Question:

CNC cast iron 2-piece mold....and vaccume poured glass...the first would cost but if you GB'd them i bet the cost would be awesome...

Installation would be: oven the light, peel the plastic, glass-adhesive the lens...

Plausible?

.....it was a suggestion...no research as of plausibility has been done.... actually no research @ all has been done...

It may or may-not be possible to even do this...i am not familiar with glass product processes...

Please don't jump to conclusions...

not that i have any objection, but what is the purpose of GB's being run by the owner?

Suresperance, I don't know if that's truly 100% clears that your uncle will supply you from germany ... as i said in my topic, many of the european glass housings that APPEAR absolutely clear from some distance, actually DO have diffraction patterns on their lenses when photographed up close! They're still alot better than the North American junk, but be careful with what you're advertising when you say "100%" ... i'm sure u urself haven't gotten hands on these actual ones ur importing yet, but perhaps when u do u can verify it to us and urself as well whether or not they truly are 100% clear ... this topic is on watch.
