piggy back fuel controllers
this may be a dumb question but would this be an acceptable piggy back fuel controller for a 1.6L DOHC? Or do you have to have a MAP sensor and not a MAF? if not, could someone let me know a good piggy back system that would work okay but yet at the same time a reasonable price? (if thats possible)

Depending on what you need to do with the controller you might want to consider the Powercard or Powercard Pro

It won't earn you the show off brownie point that the Apex-i unit will but appearantly they work as advertized in the test reports I've seen. Powercard is a division of Moss Motors which is a Miata shop and the system is self is supplied with some of the Jackson Racing S/C kits. The Pro unit sounds like a hot ticket if you are going I/F or NOS. The info I see for the Pro is that it has the capability to piggyback a MAP sensor signal under boost where the stock MAF freaks out and it spoofs the O2 sensor as well so the stock parameters in the OE ECU aren't trying to lean out the engine when you what it rich.

well basically what i would like to do is turbocharge my 1.6L DOHC. I wont be pushing much boost, but i just need it to be able to compensate for all the extra air with the proper ratio of fuel so i wont be running super lean. So do you think this would be the right thing for me? It sounds good on the web site and dang what a deal compared to the Apex-i system lol

thas what every guys says once u get use to it it feels slow to u again and what do u do u up the boost. trust me i started at 8psi what the wastegate allowed me now i am at 20psi. all of u guys have said well i want to run low boost, in time u raise it up. its addiction turst me.

I agree with Limegreen here, when i first started out with my turbo project, I was figuring I would be content with 6/7psi, now a couple years later I am at around 12psi and looking to go upwards.

thats a long time in less a month i stated at 8 jump to 18 and now at 20psi. to be truthfull 20psi is slow to me now got use to it. wouldn't mind jumping up to 30psi. iam a crazy mazda guy i didn't spend all that money on a good turbo setup just to run what u guys call low boost.

yeah yeah....i know i say a little boost now but who knows what will come later....well lets just say "a little boost for now" lol....but still, im just looking for a feasable way of me upping the fuel with the new turbo. Will powercard pro work alright you think? if so, it will be a great start to my project!

i say no but other think differently. i say invest in a standalone and the posablys are endless.

I understand what you mean about the possibilities being endless as far as a stand alone goes. I suppose i just dont totally understand the whole megasquirt setup. I dont really know all what i would need....and the whole thing about having to assemble it yourself kinda worries me lol i dont know if i would trust my soldering skills that much and a pre-assembled unit costs about 2x as much. And thats not all you have to buy....right? dont you have to buy like all of the wiring and a bunch of extra stuff? Im sorry if i sound like retarded, but i am new to this system, and I am very thankful of you all answering some of my questions.

well seeing what MS-II can do i thinks its a decent OK stand alone. my bro had one on his 88 MX-6 GT it was ok he bought the system pre assembled and wired it up the rest himself and also got the other misc. parts he need to get the system up and running. but when he or i made him switch to TEC II setup well he love it than MS-II.
the way i see it u spend a 400-800 on some piggyback that will only get u so far. what happen when u want more power and the system can't control or do what u want it to do. what now u realize u have to get a better system and sell it and look for a standalone. more money wasted if u just started with the better system.
