Hold light flashing! Where are the pins to jump to pull code

Post by goliard »

So I recently - as in last week - bought a 93 MX-3 with ATX, which is the first car I've ever owned.

The hold light started flashing right away, and does so intermittently (if I turn the car off and restart it that usually helps). I gather that means the tranny might be going, but I want to pull the codes so I know what's wrong before I take it to the shop. So there are two pins you jump, right? Where are they located? I've never even seriously looked under the hood of a car before so have no idea where to start.

If anyone could post pics or a detailed description, that would be mighty helpful.

Also do I disconnect both poles of the battery before jumping the pins?

Thanks :)

Actually that isnt true Jw.. I was able to pull codes from my GS via the hold light. Check the online shop manual or utilize the search function to search the automatic transmission forum for Hold light codes. I dont remember off hand the pins you jump in the diagnostic box.. but they are there and the info can be found with a bit of research.

I found the correct pins to jump in several threads on this forum - but I can't find them under the hood! Where's the diagnostic box located?
