The MX-3 wasn't the only Mazda to get a name. Early to mid 90's saw a move away from numbering to names. As we all know now with the Mazda 3's and 6's, that idea didn't pan out. There was the Precidia (MX-3), Cronos (626), Mystère (MX-6), Miata (MX-5), Serenia (929) (now Millennia), Protegé (elsewhere in the world 323(F) and this was mostly a Canadian thing. They retained both the name and numbering I believe in an effort to eventually drop the numbering. So much for that idea.
In the home market Mazda (still spelled Masuda in Japanese script) seldomly use any numbers. Familia (323), Savanna(RX-7), Demio (121/ 2), Cosmo, Lantis/Astina, Bongo, Friendee, Carol, Titan, Capella, Presso, Spiano, Scrum, Premacy, Verisa, Laputa, Atenza(6), Axela(3)

Mazda is Masuda in Japanese? That really sounds and looks alot better for a brand. How much exactly is Mazda spelled Masuda? Is it safe to actually refer to my car as a Masuda then? replace my mazda emblem with a Masuda emblem? or are you completely referring to its Japanese script?
