GS rear discs onto RS rear drums?...whole suspension?

Post by campsite428 »

i have a 94 DOHC 4cyl.....it has rear drum brakes....i would like to put disc brakes on it.....i can get an entire rear suspension setup for a 92 GS 6cyl with rear discs and the extra sway bar from the wrecking yard for $100........can i do this swap easily?...it looks like the trailing arms, strut tops and main frame mounts are the only things holding it in (save brake tubes and cables)...it looks like the two are interchangeable as long as i take the whole rear suspension set..crossmembers and all.......is this true?....any ideas or suggestions?

Its a direct bolt in job.. no mods required as long as you take everything from the GS donor car. :2thumbsup:

Sweet Sauce

so "everything" would include things such as?

"yes" or "no" or "doesnt matter they are the same" on these?

struts? (are the GS's any better, or are they all the same? same bolt patterns?)
emergency brake cable? (can i leave the RS cable or do i need the GS as well?
brake line coupler? (metal body line set meets the axle line set at a cast metal 4-hole coupler, are they same?)
trailing arms? (or control arms, whatever they are called that stick forward and attach to the frame, are they the same or beefier in the GS?)

and yeah i guess thats it...the rest is pretty self explanitory....stoked...im gonna have to do this...may take a few to get the money and time together (still delaing with the motor swap)...but it WILL happen.

rear spindles, brake hoses, ebrake cables, you could swap master cylinders and proportioning valve. Thats really all you should need to do.
