Disabling a No-Name Alarm

Post by illapino »

After recently buying my Precidia I had a store inspect what type of alarm was installed in it.

They found it to be a "black box" with this labelled on it:
P-X-4
A04
03296

How do I disable the alarm so that it won't auto-arm itself when i close the doors? I need to prevent it from going off on the mechanics when they do jobs that require them to leave the key in the ignition. How do I set it to the supposed "valet mode"? No one knows how to control it. Do You? . . . . .

The remote seems fairly generic: black, with a lock and unlock button, and an asterisk and pound button. The store told me that probably the dealer back in the early 90s put a cheap alarm into the car. I've figured out (well the store did from their own general experience) how to both unlock and arm the car with the chirp muted which i didn't know before (requires me to press all four buttons in a certain sequence), but completely disabling it at my command, I don't know how to do. Any suggestions?

Because I have hope that I don't have to replace this alarm by buying a complete new one. I just need to figure out how to control it.

Thanks in advance.

Usually there is a hidden button attached to the alarm to put it in valet mode.

If its not doing anything with the starter circuits or fuel circuits why not just rip it out and install a better one.

okay. i followed my red alarm light back to a blackbox underneath my steering wheel to the left: the alarm brain. it was a biatch trying to look back there, with my head crammed against the pedals, so i clipped the tie-wraps that fastened the blackbox and finally saw the blackbox for myself in its entirety. there are two buttons i've found though:

1) one button is black and is found near the pedals, far from the alarm brain. i never noticed it before; it's so small. pressing or holding it causes the red alarm light to go off. let go and the red light comes back on, continuing its idle glow. is this the valet button? i held it down for a whole minute and nothing happened. also some random techniques rendered no special response. how should i touch it to truly activate its purpose?

2) the other button isn't a button since it can't be pressed in. it's white and found on the alarm brain itself. it has a small notch for a precision screwdriver possibly, but i can turn this "button" with my fingers clockwise and counter, but i'll leave it alone until i do know what it's for.

thanks for any help. these must be the average components of an alarm. how you guys work yours will probably give me a notion as to how i can work mine...

1. Yes that is the program/valet button. Most alarms will go into valet mode when u turn the key to the on position, then hold the valet button this the LED status light goes on solid (no blinking). Same thing to turn it off. This disables the alarm.

2. That would probably be the adjustment for the built in shock sensor.

Good luck
