stock spring!!!

whats up everyone. would any of you have a front stock coil spring that you may have replaced lying around? I bought this mx3 with a broken front spring from a recall that is still open. anyway I could get some lowering springs for a decent price but I dont have the tools to change all four springs. if i could get a stock spring used I'm sure I could install it without a spring compressor because the old spring is broken in two.

anyway I just want to drive this car bad!! linited cash to get it going

if you have a spring i'll buy it for a reasonable price & pay shipping

chances are you wont be able to change the spring without a compressor.

i would give you my old springs, but there both broken.

do you mean it would be hard to get the replacement spring installed without a compressor? because taking it out will be easy considering it broken.

also do you know what it would labor cost be on new springs installed all four.

i think shopkey lists the labour for changing all 4 springs at 4 hours. so 4 hours of a normal shop rate = way too much. you can buy spring compressors for like 20 bucks or so, or you can borrow them from a store that has a lend a tool program.

keep in mind that you'll need to compresse the new spring to get it on..
BUT

if you get lowering springs, the rear springs can be replaces with out a compressor...just get a buddy to hold everything down while you put the nut on. NOTE: This is only with lowering springs.

Compressors are free..you pay an 70 dollar deposite, and then when you return it you get that money back. Just find a place that rents tools. The only other thing you need is a breaker bar, oil (Liquid wrench, WD40), ratchet set, flat head screw driver and a buddy. And a jack with stands.

Trust me, you'll survive, and save a hell of a lot of money if you do it yourself (and replace your struts while your at it too! i'm sure they're worn out). Following the instruction in the shop manuel online, or a write up (theres one in the faq) You'll learn alot!
