My new mx-3 is proving to be a pain in the backside.
I purchased it with no keys ( salvage). I was able to get a key from mazda.
Its a 96 uk model with a immobiliser, so needs a code to be programed into the chip on the key.Its will start, but cuts out after a few seconds................the only people who have this code are mazda ( they take the number off the immobiliser & there computer generates a code).
This costs £150 ($300). Anyway its been to a mazda dealer who say its not accepting the code and theres a fault on the immobiliser.
They have billed me...........£175 ($350). Any further work is £65 ($130)per hour + parts.
I`m not going to pay mazda any more cash...........and it looks like I may have to use the car for parts.........but its really much to good for that.
If any of you guys have any ideas to either bypass the immobiliser or any other fix i`d be very grateful..........
This darn immobiliser

If you know your electronics/wiring, trace the main wiring around untill you find the immobilizer, then cut it out and repair the wires. I knows that's a general idea, and it will probly be a pain in the a-- to find, but you might get lucky. General places to check: feul relay area, ecu area, main wires on the steering column.
Thats also nuts that mazda would charge for something they didn't even fix. I'd file a complaint against them.
