Problems with my v6

Post by AzuRiK »

I bought a GS for almost nothing because the engine have a problem. I made a little video clip for you to see what I mean because I'm bad in english and it's easier to find a problem when you can see and hear it. I checked my check engine code and I got these 8, 10, 12 and 24.
The car is hard to start when it's cold outside and the idle stay at 1200 rpm. When I press on the gas the car "buck" until I pass 3000 rpm, if I press on the gas pass 3000 rpm the car run fines. I changed the cap, rotor, 6 spark plugs, the spark plugs wires and I tried 2 different VAF. I have 160 on each cylenders btw, I think it need a good injectors clean up, but I'm not sure.

Here's the video ! ( Pay attention to when I give gas )

Please help me !! I got my driver license today and I can't drive her

Adjust your TPS, or replace it. TPS is a throttle position sensor on the throttle body.

Where are you located? perhaps one of us could give you a hand if one of the brainier of us lives around you.

But the first thing i would check is your TPS, theres a great how to in one of the faq's

Second is check your air intake tube for cracks.

Third reset the ecu and run it a bit, then check for codes again, look up the codes, replace what they are saying is bad <- PROBABLY YOUR PROBLEM

code 8 is your vaf
code 10 is your IAT (intake air temperatur sensor)
code 12 is your TPS (throttle position sensor, as stated above.

So it looks like you have 2 problems, your TPS and your MAF sensor,

Check to make sure the connections are good, and adjust or rebuild your TPS if nessessary.

Hope this all helps.

Do I need specific tools to adjust the TPS ? or I turn it until the radiator fan start, and I turn it back until the fan stop ? ( That's what I heard on "How to" adjust the TPS )

I don't know if this is part of your problem or not, but I believe the 24 code is assosiated with your right O2 censor.

turn the disty , remember that the ecu controls timing o even if disty is NOT in the middle it will remain the same, you have to ground ten and ground together. The v6 faq does say how to do this, when its in ten and gnd on the ediagnostics box you can set your idle, reset disty position and tps, basically ground te and ground together with ENGINE OFF move disty you will hear the INJECTORS turn on when you get the right position, for tps when you move up or down the FAN will turn on, set it t where the fan is off and right before it turns on :) quite simple when you do it over and over again :)
