Gears

Post by Chemical »

Anyone else find that they just use 1st , third and fifth gear when taking off? I tend to only use second and forth when I need them to get rapidly along- which is often enough but when I m just in normal traffic I think the ratios are too close togehter to warrant using them.

Unless you have a heavy load clutch or racing clutch package, I would recomend using all 5 gears.

Yeh I see what you mean 93_mx but I take first gear out to about 3500 RPM and then the change is fine since I dont try to floor it I just let it connect gently and don't push it , then the same to 5th. The town speed limits here are only 30mph and I really don't think or feel a strain on the clutch. I just find the ratios are so close together as to make them a pain when you are only going to slow speed limits such as these. I know I could just short shift but again I don't see the point. Freeway is different of course.
