Be carefull big guy. Did you go through all of the pages? I was willing to jump on that engine too for a future project. The intial price was rediculous considering that when I probed for authentication / proof, none was to be had. It appeared he got quite indignant at my probing questions, not only for my own reasons but for the protection of the membership at large. As you'll see from the previous pages, there was some successes, and some, not so, as in the case of Bling Bling. Just thought it might be worth mentioning. g/l

:? And still, $1000 for an engine with no intake-manifold...! Thats silly...

I'd have to see proof of all the 'mods' he claims are done. Receipts, boxes, install pics...?

Exactly my point John. I tried, to no avail, so the red flag went up on that one for me.

:o I see this thread is quite old :!:

John, first off I'm not sure what you mean by "big guy" :?: Since I don't know you very well I take it that such is a common method to address newer members here on the forum. No offense taken

I agree, the ZE's are available from $700 on up but who knows what the real deal might be.

On the other hand Bubba claims his engine was rebuilt and only has a few K's on it. So I think that $1000.00 is well worth it even without the intake. Labor cost here in the East Coast US is outrageous. Even general repair shops at the gas pumps here in southwestern CT charge $80 to $98 an hour. While I agree that one cannot expect to recover labor charges, in this case it makes a bit of difference and it's worth the extra asking price if the engine was rebuilt and only has 3k on it. Ever price a K8 short block from a reliable source? As far as proof goes I don't think I would have kept a lot of it either unless I was planning on selling it.

There was a young man nearby here in CT several Months ago who was looking to get $7000.00 for his 92 MX-3 simply because he claimed that the total ZE installation cost him over $4000.00 Well needless to say he ended up keeping it a while longer.

Although I could see a little negotiating bias in your part, possibly stemmed from personal interests to make the engine purchase, I thank you for the input and the heads up. I have not heard from Bubba yet, but I will not be surprised if the engine was already sold.

I bought the intake manifold off of him, and I have nothing but good things to say. He gave me a pic of every angle I asked for, responded to all e-mails and pm's, it was exactly as he said, and also shipped fast with a tracking number and all.
Just thought I'd throw this in.

I bought rotors off him back in September....and I've only received one pair thus far. The spoiler I bought from him did show up. Now I'm waiting on a response to one of my many emails to get the supposed "tracking number" so I can find out if I'm getting them soon.

If you paid by PayPal you can file a complaint if you have to. They may be able to get your money back if you do not receive what you paid for in a reasonable amount of time.

:? Is this a "good" friend of yours...? Curious as to why you're so determined on speaking on his behalf...? Can he not type for himself, or are you his personal ASSistant...?

And up here in Canada, we call this type of activity "SHADY" or a "SCAM"... Especially since he hasnt replied to this thread since Aug 28...

 And still no pics for the masses...

No...he isn't a good friend. I thought a fellow MX'r wouldn't try and screw me over but he definately has. If "bubba_03" doesn't get back to me by Thursday evening...Paypal will be contacted and money will be sent back. I would recommend that anyone looking to buy parts from this member or any other members to be very aggressive to get all info they need. But in my case I was and still no positive result. I hope the forum moderators agree with me when I say that this particular member be "probationary" or "banned" because of his competence!!!!

Right from page one my gut gut feeling on this just wasn't right. Through the succeeding pages I've challenged the integrity of this sale in the best interest of the members and to be honest, I was quite enticed with the engine myself. The implied and visible resistance to my queries that were followed by with hostility and pervasiveness should send a clear message. Others who had achieved some success with some of his items chimed in to support, while others that were still waiting on parts were - still waiting. My gut feelings in areas like this are seldom wrong and more often I side on acceptance. As noted when this thread resurfaced, I mentioned to FlyVFR to approach this cautiously. Stacey, I believe the ruling on Bubba will have to be made by the Admin staff only (Barry or Jeff). Sorry for your dissappointment in this sale and g/l with the post sale dealings with PayPal. Let us know what transpires.
