Exhaust Advice needed...

Post by Jovian2k »

Ok here's the scenario...
My 93 RS needs some serious exhause work. I am going to need a new flex pipe and cat back system. I might as well replace the cat as well. As for now I am pretty stock but I am planning to keep my Mx for a while and throw in a bpt in the future so what would people suggest?
I heard the Monza Pacesetter exhaust rusts easily so I'm trying to stay away from that...
I am also not looking for a very loud exhaust just deeper sounding, but a little performance boots would be very nice  .

I found this cat on ebay, what do you think?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAZDA-MX ... enameZWDVW

Ok Borla does not offer a cat-back for the MX-3, the only one I Have found is pacesetter. Am I better off getting custom piping done at a shop or take the risk with the Pacesetter?

i did my own 2" cat back now the muffler i have on my car is alittle to loud for your liking by the soud of it so just get a normal high flow muffler with a silencer and some 2" piping if you want a really nice deep sound replace you resonator with a cherry bomb muffler and then put the new muffler on as well jut make sure you keep the silencer in or you'll wake up the people down the street

Yeah just got back from advance auto and ordered the oem muffler for like 70 and a front flex pipe for like 90. Looks like no cat back for now but no big deal :?

Yeah kind of upset I had to get the exhaust done for emissions testing so I got an oem muffler for $90 and put it on. Sucks bc I could have spent like 100 more and gotten a cat-back or something. It's ok I'll just go 2 1/4" custom sometime in the future :)

I got a 2.25" flexpipe back with an OBX muffler sitting out the back, mines really loud since I have no cat converter, planning on getting a high flow for better air movement, but I paid $160 for a new flex-pipe and the 2.25" exhaust, and I bought my OBX muffler off ebay for about $65. it sounds really good, just real loud.

Yeah I would want a more quiet muffler, but also not something cheap so that it rusts quickly. Any good, more quiet ones on ebay?
