NEW Rims on Stock Tires Opinion?

Post by flexboi »

Hi - I really enjoy my MX-3 prolly just as much as everyone else, I just don't have the money, but I was wondering if it would look TOOOO tacky, or ugly etc., if I went with different 15" wheels on the same tire. I guess it would look like it does now, but I know a lot of wheels look better with low pro's.......... any feedback would help thanks!

I got a $300 credit card from discount tire, http://www.discounttire.com and I need to use it before they cancel it for inactivity, I have an extra hundred maybe towards it too!

Well you would have to use stock size tire if you are using stock size rim. You would only use lower profile tires when you use bigger rims.

OH OK, I think that's what the plus 1,2 or 3 is about right? the tire stays the same diameter, the rim changes size, so a 15" rim would keep the same look......

okay, so in ending, would it look dumb?

It's all a matter of taste and preferrence. Ensure you stick with same rim width also. Not sure what sort of quality rim set you can get for $400. though. If you're not restricted to rims only, why not shoot for the best set of tyres that will fit your oem wheels. Btw, you didn't mention if your current wheels are the honeycomb or 5 star aluminum ones or the steelies. If they're the steelies than I may have just wasted your time. Max input info = best possible feedback.
