Potential new MX-3 Owner

Post by akaz00 »

Hi guys!

First i wanna say hi because im new here, so hi from rainy england!

I appreciate this is primarily an american site however i need your advice

I am potentially about to buy a 1993 Mx-3 1.8 24v V6 Special Edition

Basically i am just wondering, before i agree to buy it, should there be anything obvious i should be looking at? I.e are there things that go wrong with these a lot? Just as i have no experience with these cars i would like an expert opinion.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

Sean

Sean, you've stumble upon a rare find indeed. The SE model is very hard to come by and is very sought after. I wouldn't get to concerned about possible this or that. Bottom line on the car in general is that it can be a very reliable, fast and fun car to own and drive. There are numerous alternatives for modding though that sort of info is best found here and not from local performance shops. The swapping of numerous parts from the MX6, 626, Protege, Miata, Escort and others is common place and cheaper. Unless the car is a complete wreck I would certainly latch onto it. It comes with a few SE items obviously not found or available to other model years that makes it that much more unique and was only available in 93. Common SE appointment were leather seats, steering wheel and something else that I can't remember at this time. True SE identification can be found inside the drivers side door jam. The 92/93 seats were the most popular and both model year's were OBD1. Don't let this one go Sean and good luck!! BTW, what colour is it?

Than it has to be good ...LOL. Not sure if the colour alotments for the SE were the same for the UK market as here in NA. The majority of SE's were a purplish/burgundy colour although it also came in a couple other colours but in very few quantities. And I don't think I've ever heard of a white SE. Good on ya mate!!!
