YEah a little

Post by Buckminster »

I just put the springs from a gs on my rs and it got a little lift. Where I live you would be a fool to lower your car for style points. The potholes, dirt roads and deep snow would be damaging. What I have noticed is a greater clearance and more bump handling ability. I will probably put a light kit and a brush guard on it with some heavier lugged tires for winter and go rally style. The street racers may not like it but there is more to driving than pretending to look fast. You also have to handle the terrain.

If it makes sense to you to have more suspension travel then don't listen to the urbanites who have no idea what the country boys have to ride on.
It's all good in the MX-3
MX-3 SE project car.

I've seen that done to ... i think it was a festevia or escort... they took a truck frame chopped it up jacked it up and fitted the car body to it. Stickin out from under the body you could see the masive v8... the crazy basturd drove all over the place for about 3 days then i never saw it agian. I saw another guy attempt the same thing but it just wasnt the same.

I think it'd be cool to get a good 4 inches up, put some crazy fender flares and nasty wide muddin tires on there. Go flyin around with all the look alike jeep guys.

If i was truely redneck, it'd be done already!

but i'll save that for my midlife crisis

It wouldn't be necessary to raise the car. Stock height with much stiffer springs and dampeners would be more than enough clearance.

He's right you know- it works for me. At least I think it's standard height.

ok so i'm going to get remed at for this but here it goes

YES you can lift a MX-3 it's just going to take you a hell of a hard time to do so
i know what your going to say barry "it car has no frame it can't be lifted" bull it may be a unibody but you can make a set of spacer's to fit inside the shock tower mounts and have them welded in place after that you can either bolt up your stock shocks and struts or you car swap in a set of longer struts and spring easiest way to attemt this way is get yourself a set of coil overs and ajust the ride height to the max weld the perches in place and swap in a set of struts from a F-150 and bingo you have your self a boneafied redneck rockcrawling mother of a mx-3

now if you do follow my advice you will be shot in the foot so you can never drive again then i will burn the car to the ground and put it out of it's missery

Wow... that other one is not even close to redneck. ... well close... but if i drove that thing down the street around here, i'd either be run off the road, run over, or shot at.

He's got the idea with the rubar in frount and the big hangin mud flaps in back. it'd be cool if it was all black or atlease dark earthy colors instead of that fag rainbow...

If that one was a bit higher and had better paint choices or no paint i'd love to own it.

for something like that your not going to want to just max out the susspension, your still gonna want alot of play in it.

Happyclown, it's a fair dinkum rally car, it's just got road tyres on it in those pics. As for thr "fag" rainbow colour scheme, that's how it was when I bought it, and it draws attention at events which is what you want when competing so I havent changed it yet. If it aint broke, don't fix it. If it aint gonna increase performance, don't waste money on it!

You can't see the roll cage in those other shots coz of the reflections on the windows so check this, it's not a showpony

Its also right here on this site as one of the only "race" examples someone had the guts to make out of one of our cars

http://www.mx-3.com/race/

So its not really appropriate to make those comments. Jesus someone with a name "happyclown" calling a rally car fag. Thats a bit rich... Try driving down the street with that handle on your car - I bet you get "run off the road, run over, or shot at" pretty damn quick.

:(

Sorry for bein such an a-- about that....

As a rally car i'll bet it gets all the right attention... but as for the comments people were makin about it being redneck, you'd be gettin all the wrong attention. That's what I was aimin to shoot at.

My bad!

And as for this handle... If i wrote it all over my car like it was cool yes i'd be laughed at and what not, the only reason I use it is because its the handle i thought of like 10 years ago and i've just never needed to change it :?

Hey no worries man - I just know how much work and dedication it takes to get ANY car competitive. And I also strongly suspect the Rainbow Warrior hasn't been put out to pasture just yet... something to keep an eye out for....

As for your handle - thats ok. No better or worse than most. Sorry about that, I shouldn't have said anything about it, I just had to say something in response  :D

No probs happy, apology accepted. I was just a bit put out about the fag comment coz "The Rainbow Warrior" as I call it, aint no ricer. Just had to set the record straight.

Hope the guy who started this thread has had some luck sorting out his suspension, or was the whole thing just a piss-take on "Deliverance" country??
