Am I giving my car too much love?

Post by Juans_93_MX3 »

I have had it for 3 weeks now and every week I give my MX3 it's weekly wash and wax (no polish yet). Is there such thing as giving a car too much wax where it can hurt the paint?

I use this special soap that is made for washing cars by the way...

it will not hurt your car but you only need to wax your car once or twice a year. the wax then gets coated on. i would recomend polishing it, or get it proffessionaly done. it will take off the wax and leave your car with a healthy vibrant shine.

EDIT

But washing your car is fine. during the summer i usually wash it almost every week. but do not use the foam brush, by yourself a sponge. otherwise you will have that nasty spidering effect to your car. but since winter is coming i should give my car a good final clean. wait i'm in calgary now, i can wash my car in the middle of winter due to chinooks. couldn't do that in saskatchewan if i wanted to be able to get into my car the next day.

What do professionals do that I cant? Do they use some type of machine or something?

I got a question about polishing. Dosent that take a small layer of paint off or something?

proffesionals woudl use an electric buffer to buff it after polishing. They've had alot of experiance so they might have better technique but other than that, theres not much different. OH, and your pocket is alittle less full after lol..

waxing is useless if your paint is already full of contaminants....and seeing how you just got this car, it very likely IS full of crap in the paint assuming your car wasn't polished recently.

polish it w/ a 3 stage process (wax being the 3rd) and then continue to wax it every 3 months or so to protect the paint from contaminants.

if my car is even slightly dusty or has a bit of dirt on it i feel like i'm neglecting her, and yah never use a stupid brush that just scratches ur paint!!! always wanna use a soft sheepskin thinger or a sponge and wash from top to bottom, i wash mine once a week, and just wax whenever water doesnt bead on ur car. :)
