October 29 & 30: Cumberland Airport MEET (MD/VA/PA/WV)

Post by Gro Harlem »

Here's a meet in a more centralized location and that will go on for TWO days. Show up one, or the other, or both, whatever is convienent.

You don't have to autox, you can just come and spectate. Spectating is FREE and you'll see a lot of cool cars up there, lots of old vettes, cobras and porshe's since those clubs are who run the autox typically.

Venue is VERY nice, flat paved airport lot, open...the courses are usually relatively high speed & you WILL GET 5 runs. Auto-crossing is 30 dollars per day.

Food & Bathrooms are on-site or you can just drive off to downtown cumberland and buy food at a bunch of places. The town isn't too big and isn't hard to get around.

Details:

Date: Saturday, October 29th and Sunday October 30th, 2005

Place: Cumberland Airport: http://www.cumberlandairport.com/ Technically in West Virginia but thats b/c its right over the patapsco from Cumberland on a big hill.

Auto-X Info: http://www.nationalroadrally.com/info.html

Time: If you want to autocross, show up BY 8:30AM on either day. There are 100 spaces per day, it almost always fills up both days so showing up earlier is better. Sundays typically have MORE people so keep that in mind.

If you just want to spectate, you can show up whenever. The autox typically ends at around 3:30-5PM depending on how many car are there. We can take pics at the airport and go and eat or whatever. If we have hotels we can hang out and do whatever til the next day.

Accomodations: Lots of hotels are in the area. The area isn't particularly wealthy so hotels aren't expensive. Also a lot of camping sites nearby you can stay at if you wish. The area is beautiful, up in the Appalachain mountains.
