connecting amp to cd deck??

Post by Hoodzy »

ok so in my old car i had the amp connected directly to the car battery and hada switch to turn it on and off

i'm now tossin it into my mx-3 and i'm not really sure how to connect the amp directly to the cd deck so that when the cd deck is turned on the amp turns on also

my first guess would be out of those 20 wires that connect into the car their is a red one that would be the power one and i'd just splice that into the power cord from the amp????

ehhh, no.

There is a blue/white wire that is your remote turn on lead (double check to make sure sometimes their different but usually not)

Connect the amps REMOTE terminal to the blue/white striped wire on the deck. This will automatically switch the amp on/off with the deck. The red wire is ignition (on/off with key) The yellow wire is Constantly live (even when car is off) and black is ground. 9 times out of 10 you are just connecting colours.

just conect the power and ground up normaly and run another wire (along with your rca's) to the remote turn on on the amp it should be a blue/white wire if that dosen't work some deck have the power annenta and turn on wire as the same wire witch will be blue incase you have one of the screwy decks

my amp has the rca or high level input
i am not using the rca

sorry guys i'm insanely stupid
i have the left and right inputs which i'm not using, the High level input which consists of the 4 smaller wires, the REM, then 2 for the left and 2 for the right which go to my subs and the B+ and the GND
if i'm notusing the rca whhers my remote terminal off the amp?

USE THE RCAs. Low level sounds alot worse.
REM is where the blue/white wire goes. Your power wire which should be at least 8ga, should run with an inline fuse directly from the battery to the amp. Your ground should be of the same gauge or thicker, and should be connected from the amp to the the frame of the car (bare metal). Then just run speaker wire from the amp to your speakers :) Connect the amp to the deck via RCA.

The remote wire runs from the "REM" terminal on the amp, and connects to the "remote" wire (blue/white) on the back of your deck. It doesnt matter whether your using the RCA's or not.
