Mazda 323F/Astina BPT swap

Post by Pedro_mx3 »

Hi guys, my friend has a Mazda 323F BA (1994-1998) also known as an Astina elsewhere and he is doing a BPT swap, now his car has the 115bhp 1.8 engine in it now and he has the G series gearbox (theyre much the same as Proteges)

The trouble is we dont know what fitment of clutch he requires for the swap an where to buy 1 being as were in the UK. could any1 shed some light on it, i believe the clutch should be a 200mm item? were after an ACT clutch if possible.

This will be the 1st BPT into a 323F of this type in the UK so were a little in the dark here.

Thanks in advance guys :D

The 323F/ Lantis/ Astina all had the BP-DE 1.8L as the base engine. Swapping the BP-T should be that difficult given that you are swapping your engine for basically the same engine. I had a V-6 GT as a company car when I was assigned to office in Erie so I know there is lots of room for the turbo hardware.

Yeah, we thought as much, we just need to know what fitment of clutch to purchase for this engine/tranny combo, i assume that the tranny on the 323F BP-DE is the same as the protege tranny? so a protege clutch maybe? this is a 200mm clutch i am guessing?
