Just a thought about PM's

Post by Tunes67 »

This may not be that popular of a idea.. And I have no idea how it could be implemented.. But.. if PM's & E-mails were a Privledge garnered from either a certain # of posts (much like how the buy/sell forum is setup where you can only post there if you have 30+ posts) or from being a supporting member. This would allow the site admins to revoke PM & E-mail privledges from those that abuse them. Thus preventing 1 person from taking away something that everyone else uses.

Now dont get me wrong here guys.. I am not harping on the admins, If I was in their shoes and knew about a PM spammer.. I would take the same course of action that Jeff has. I would shut down the PM's until I knew the scammer was gone. I just thought I would post a couple of possible alternatives, I am not into web coding so I have no idea if this would work or not. But.. if it could.. maybe we could have the best of both worlds :)

maybe instead of disableing pm's and email's for everybody you should just send your own email and pm to everybody on the forum about the problem you are having with the guy advertising  If you let people know it will be enough for them not to want to buy off a guy who is skeety enough to not pay advertising fees.

Is the problem you are having really going to be solved by doing this? As soon as you enable the pm's again he could just start doing the same thing

I completely agree. He should be prevented from spamming PM accounts regardless of who he is sending them too. If that means no more PM's ever on MX-3.com.. then I am in favor of that outcome. I am just trying to find a happy medium is all. Hope this helps.
