Nitto 555r drag tires
Has anyone used these yet??? Do street slicks really work well at launch? How high can I rev with them and still get some grip?

a friend of mine had them for awhile on his civic(ugh!) He said they are great for the track, but leave much to be desired in a daily driving application(especially rain) He ended up selling them and getting a set of Falken Azenis instead. Hope this helps a bit

I tried them out once on my car when it was in it's prime w/ the VJ14 setup I had. They were a 205/45/16 and the only thing I've found that will grip like them but still yeild tread life is the 225/45/16 Yokohamma AVS ES-100's. The Nitto's lasted me about 3000 miles before the were toast. The ES-100's lasted around 15,000. The old setup at 13-14psi wouldn't stop spinning until you hit 3rd gear. On the track at 17psi it spun through 3 gears and would bark 4th. The short tire life on my car is because I always drove it hard. The only thing the NT-555r's are good for is on the track or ummm street sprints
They were designed to be diven on to get to the track and then race on the track...thats it. They have and ULTRA soft tread compound. If you wand to use them I'd suggest mounting them on and extra set of rims so you can switch to them when you need them.

As far as I know, theyre still around. I just saw a tirerack ad in the newest Import Tuner Mag. and they were listed in the ad. Maybe they are and Tirerack just so happens to have a large stock of them still. That would suck if they were though

He's right......... kinda. The Azenzis RT215 have been discontinued but replaced with the Azensis RT615. I bought a pair of RT215 from http://www.vulcantires.com. He wasn;t carrying the new ones yet but he might be now. I bought them for autocrossing and i can tell you they are grippy as hell.ertaisi wrote:I asked about Azenzis at my local wheel shop and the guy told me they'd been discontinued...was he full of it?

Nitto Drags

I got in my Mazda 323, Nitto Drags and already went thru my first oil change and has plenty of beef. Dont get in a tangent with other people's comment. My tires were balanced and car aligned. It has lowered suspension, sway bars and new urethane bushings. Here in Nor Cal is its plenty of hills and wineries, I have take them 5 days a week 45 minute commuting cause I work near the coast and the tires look good, no premature wear.
Launches?
Insane, no FWD car can keep up with me on launches, guarranteed. Its almost stupidly ridiculous cause some cars that I have gone against them I know they can catch me after 2nd or 3 rd gear but just because I take off and let them behind they give up. Before I used to be scared on challenging others from the hole, but now is another story. I have improved in my take off, feel more confident and the tires grip very well on wet surfaces.
The more the tire wearsout the better grip they get and these tires like tobe warmed up.
How can I remove Mazda Enthusiast?
