RCA outs on a head unit?? Two of them???

Post by manowar821 »

Hey, I'm almost done with my sub install. . . I'd just like to ask if anyone knows anything about this.

I have two RCA sets coming out of the back of my head unit, both are female. The difference is one set is solid, I mean mounted to the back of the unit. The other pair is a cord that comes out about 2-1/2 inches. The RCA pair on the cord is has caps on the ends

Which one do you think I should use as signal wires for my amp??

Is it possible that my head unit has two RCA (low level) outs?

The brand and model number is Clarion DRX 5375

If no-one knows I'll just be doing it by trial and error anyway! :P

Thanks so much.

Havent seen too many Clarion decks.. but on the few Head Units I have seen, the RCA connectors directly off the back of the unit are for the Sub Amp. The ones on the ends of wires are standard RCA amp connectors. Hope this helps.

Most likely one set of preouts is for the front L&R channels and the other set is for rear L&R. In your case since you dont have an independant subwoofer preout, have the sub get its signal from the rear preouts.

To distinguish front from rear preouts: Fade all of your audio to the rear through your deck's settings then hook up your amp/sub. If your amp/sub is hitting then you have caught the rear preouts my friend :D

It's either two possibilities. The one with the caps, is definetly your sub outs. The one on your deck is either front/rear outputs, or an auxilary input. If you have everything hook up, simply connect the ones on the unit, test it by playing something, and you will know which ones they are.

Well I have it running off of the uncapped ones, they are Rear Outs. I'll try the other ones tomorow!

Alright, the solid mounted ones were Rear out, the ones on the cord were Front out.
I'll just keep them on Front out, cuz its all the same.
