Stereo is acting funny...

Post by overjoyed »

I replaced the stock speakers with some sony's I had. Now when I turn up the volume on the stock head unit it starts craping out, the sound is screaching, or it just stops entirely. Do I need to replace the head unit?

my suggestions

1. You didn't make good connections on your replacement sony's

2. You short circuited something when doin the replacement, meaning that the head unit could have been damaged

3. Could just be a total coincidence (don't count on it).

P.S. i'm glad to see that senior citizens are now taking interest to MX-3's. It's been long overdue... sorta like your death, cuz the average person woulda died 10 years ago... keep on rockin' in the free world though

1. Check the impedence at the 6x9's. Should be 4ohms, any lower and when you turn it up it will short out.

2. OR listen to the deck at a very high level. The deck is heating up, starts to sound like cr*p, then heat up a little more and turns it'self up. Warrenty would be a good thing to cashe in on. Or try a 2ch or 4ch amplifier.
