they weigh like 10000 lbs. weight is a huge issue for me.
Most Aftermarket seats than have recline function on them weigh more than stock mx-3 seats.
not true. mx-3 stockers w/rails weigh a nice 28 lbs. Used my UPS scale to weigh them, forgot the exact amount (28, 6oz or something)
The corbeaus' I used to have in my festiva weighed a whopping 24 lbs w/their aftermarket rails bolted on.
I think i might just buy some and find out for myself how they fit. If anything I can resell em to someone locally for a 50 dollar or less loss.
I'll try to bolt the seats directly to the stock MX3 rails & use washers to even the height out if necessary and if that sits too high (most likely it will) i'll use the universal sliders most seats come with and weld a half-assed metal bracket to them to form a VERY low sitting bracket, then i'll paint it when it fits right so it doesn't look like total azz

Most seats I looked at showed over 35 lbs each. That was for Momo's, OMP's and Sparco's. You are right I think Corbeau's were lighter. Let us know how it turns out.
Hey GRO,
Taras and I are still considering a GB for an upholstery kit. I can rework a set of stock MX-3 seats and sell them to you. The side bolsters can be built higher for more lateral support. The idea of a full kit is good, but selling a pair of finished front seats would be even better. There's no fussin with the covers on and off. The shipping will be the difference. I can upload pictures on the GB so everyone can see the end result. What do ya think? I've got some very cool vinyls in snake, ostrich, aligator, crocidile, CF, metallic colours and others etc.
yeah i talked to you about this already. Paying 400+ for just some seat covers on my stock, beat-to-s--- seats doesn't sound all that appealing to me. I'll still have the same shitty seat bolster foam with some nice shiny new covers.
My seat IS beat and really needs to be replaced. The left-side side bolster on my drivers seat has torn foam. If you push it in you actually press the fabric up against the metal framework inside the seat. The seat cushion itself is worn & doens't offer nearly as much thigh support as it used to (comparing it to my mx3 seats in my protege which were mint).
TekPmp wrote:Question Gro! .....how did you like your buds 3A seats? Have any comments on the quality of those seats? I am considering picking up a set.
they actually were damn nice. More comfortable than my corbeau targa RS's i had in the festiva. Only thing is...i've read stories about the side bolsters (shoulder stick-out thing) busting off b/c of crappy materials they use to make the seats so you have to be sure not to knock into it or you could break it.
Read the rightmost column for weight of Monza, Milano and Torino seats. These are the ones to consider if you wish to compare apples to apples of fully legal seats with a reclining mechanism.
Being in the auto interior biz, I repair seat bolsters all the time. I get RECARO'S that have almost no foam and I have to reconstruct the bolster to fit the cover. Your seats are a breeze to repair and modify. Even Taras says the same about the comfort level of stock seats. His seats were bolster modified and he's happy.
I've ridden in a few racing seats, and the corbeaus are definitely big bang for the buck, but personally its a waste of money. I just got the whole leather interior from an mx-3 SE and man, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. No point in getting racing seats, if the mx-3 ones pretty much are.
