code 55 !! ?? PLEASE HELP out of ideas

ok..ill try to post this once more (posted years ago) what in the wold is code 55..cant find it anywhere... i do the test engine light procedure.. i get codes 14, 45 (maybe) then 55. ok so i see if its gonna cycle and it gives code 55 all the way.. removed pin...retryed.. blink blink blink blink blink.. pause 2 secs..blink blink blink blink blink... ok so i remove the pin and run the car for 5 minutes recheck codes..code 55 all over the place...is my ecu toast? or what happen here? the car wont go over 75 ( i tried last night ) it struggles alot to get to 80. replaced plugs, cap, rotor, wires, oil, oil filter. Have never changed fuel filter (its been a year) i remnoved the kat thinking this was the culprit..it was not. I tried blaming it on anything and everytime i fix it..it turns out its not that. it does this while cold or hot.. and sometimes it will backfire when its cold(rarely) it goes away as i rev up..maybe its the fuel pump? fiter...any ideas please!! I miss the little power my mx3 had :***(

Never heard of 45 or 55. Try and clear ECU first, remove negative battery terminal, press on brake pedal for 40 sec(?) and replace negative terminal. I suspect code 05 - knock sensor - but not sure if that's what's causing your problems.

· 02 'NE2' crankshaft position sensor
· 03 'G' camshaft position sensor
· 04 'NE1' camshaft/crankshaft position
· sensor
· 05 Knock sensor
· 08 Volume Air Flow sensor (VAF)
· 09 Coolant temperature sensor (CTS)
· 10 Intake air temperature sensor (IAT)
· 12 Throttle position sensor (TPS)
· 14 Barometric pressure sensor
· 15 LHO2S inactivation error
· 16 Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
· 17 LHO2S inversion error
· 23 RHO2S inactivation error
· 24 RHO2S inversion error
· 25 Fuel pressure regulator control solenoid
· 26 Canister purge solenoid
· 28 EGR vacuum solenoid
· 29 EGR vent solenoid
· 34 Idle air control (IAC) solenoid
· 41 VRIS #1 solenoid
· 46 VRIS #2 solenoid

Is it 5 quick blinks, then a pause followed by another 5 quick blinks? If it is, that is code 5 repeating itself which i would imagine thats what it is as there is no code 55.

where is the knock sensor? i tried the online manual but i get an error

wth..so now autozone says my car (92 mx3 gs ) has no nock sensor..and the shop manual it just has a dash to it.... um ok??

Autozone sorta sucks I have discovered.. at least in my area.. I checked Napaonline.com for your 92 GS and found a knock sensor listed for $114. You could also try http://www.partsamerica.com (home to shucks and checkers auto supply stores) The autozone in my area has failed 3 times to have parts available for my MX-3 and couldnt get them in for over a week. So I dont bother with them anymore.. Napa, Action Auto Parts and Shucks are the main ones around here.. but in this area.. Pep Boys, Autozone and GI Joes are more or less in the complete joke category for finding parts first time out. At least by my experiences.

Oh btw.. dont trust anything a Shucks employee tells you.. Around here they are pretty much clueless.. kinda like going to Compusa and asking computer technical questions.. their answer is always wrong and usually involves getting cash outta you LOL

Online manual page F2-156 for the 95 K8 (assuming same for 92GS?) shows it under ctr. of the intake mani which must be removed to reach it. But first, page F2-079 re code 05 says to ck. the connector.

Spot on neutral. It says to check the connector and then trace the wiring through the engine bay followed by a continuity test with the ecu. Having verified all of that than it's replacement time. Like neutral says, gotta take the IM off with a bunch of plumbing to get at it - dead center on top of engine between cylinder banks.
Did you disconect the battery and try to wipe the ecu and reconfirm the validity of 05 code.

yeah ive disconnected the battery last time and reset the ecu codes, got same code. Also I needs new valve cover gaskets...might as well get them while im at it..now to find that knock sensor at a store or online..will the onme from mx6 or pgt work? what about 626? i really hope its the knock senosr..my car sucks.

I noticed the knock sensor for an mx6 costs less...72 dlls..yet the one for the mx3 is 120 something... what happen here o.0

The Part No for K8DE and KLDE is the same - KL01-19-921B.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

lucky can u pm me with a number..unless i already have it and forgot who u are? :P i did see where it is today and aa
its under the fuel rain...so i have to remove injectors for that ? im going to pick one up this weekend and my valve cover gaskets..that knock sensor explains all the speed problems i have and the huge detonations i hear when the car is cold and i havent warmed it up..in the meantime im using the highest grade fuel.
