Heater Temperature??
Heater Temperature??
I'm not sure if this is working within normal parameters or not but thought I would ask. Comparing our rides to other makes, I've noticed that some models seem to warm up a lot more than others during the winter. For example, my buddy's '01 Civic heater actually blows heat that's hot enough that it feels like a sauna in the cabin after awhile. Whereas in my MX-3, the heater gets warm after about 10 minutes or so, sure, but it never really gets too hot. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at some point, shouldn't the heater be hot enough so that eventually you would get too warm and would have to turn the heat back down?? I mean, my cabin warms up to a comfortable temperature eventually, but it seems like I never have to turn the heat down and I just don't know whether it's normal (and more importantly, unhealthy for the car) or not for us to have the heater running constantly ALL the time throughout the winter.

You might try a new thermostat. I recently had this same type situation in my 240sx. It would run fine and the temp gauge would read normal, but the heater was struggling to keep up if it went below 30F outside.
I put a new thermostat in (OEM-DEALER ONLY!... not some cheap Autozone thermostat)..... temp gauge goes to the same spot now as before, but gets there MUCH quicker, and the heat coming out of the vents now could melt Satans sandles. I actually have to turn down the heat sometimes, something I havent had to do in a long time.
My Mx3 heater was always blazing hot. Thermostats are easy to change, it would be the best place to start.

Try the Thermostat first and if the is not good enough get a backwash done on the core. I did not look to see where you are located but I had mine done this winter and it improved greatly. It only cost me 115 with taxes in (Cdn funds). If thats not enough I would say its your heater core and that is EXPENSIVE!!!! Good luck.
Thanks,

Mine gets sop hot that it feels like if its burning my face.. check the colant lines to the heater they may be clogged.. i can hear the water going in ther when i first sart the engine and warm up for 5 mins and accel..its HOT and yeah try thermostat. Those coolant lines are super important..make sure they are not clogged.
